My son has asthema and doesn't do well playing outdoors. Does anyone know of an indoor play area (other than the malls)? I was particularly looking for one with blow up jump houses? I am fine with paying an admission fee. Thanks for you help!

I was a severe asthmatic growing up and the best place for me to play was on the beach. I know it's not indoors, but I always breathed better there and better at night after spending the day there. Good Luck

Planet jump (I think it's 126th ave off 66th st in Largo) is wonderful!! I have a 2 and 4 yo and they both run free andI don't have to worry unless there are older big kids being wild. We like to go in the earlier part of the day before school gets out. There is also a baby area for crawlers and sm toddlers that my 2 yo loves!!

K.,

There is a place in Lutz that has bounce houses. Don't know how close this is to you.

It's called Planet Bounce. I think it is like $8 for the open sessions (don't quote me on that). They are on 41 & Sunset, back in the corner by Beall's outlet

Unsure where you're located, but in Oldsmar there is A Play Patch (no bounce house but tons of stuff for a 2yo) on the SE corner of Tampa Road & Racetrack; Pump It Up is straight up Racetrack north of Linebaugh; Rollie Pollies (gymnastics & bounce house) is on W. Hillsborough in the Lifestyles Fam. Fitness plaza; Future Flipz (gymnastics & bounce house) is on SR 590 just E of 19 in Clearwater. All have open play times as well as classes.

Bounce U in largo is awesome and has preschool time for kids only up to she 7 every weekday except wed from 9:30 till noon and a snack is included. My kids love it. Planet jump has a few for the little ones but many are very large and tall. Great explorations is great too. We also like going to the gymnastics places during age appropriate open play. They can bounce on trampolines, jump in foam pits and try balance beams. Lots of fun. I like future flips in Clearwater and Apollo gym in largo. For mom and child play places, cafe bebe is fun. We also do the preschool story times at the libraries and then usually play in the kids areas after. They are every week. At highland rec center they have a scuessercise class Monday ams. There is alot to do, depending where you are!

I am not sure where you live, but here in Cape Coral FL we have a place called the Monkey Playground. Its small, but VERY NICE! I believe its like 5 bucks to get in. AND.. you can pack your own food, drinks, WHATEVER! They have picknic benches INSIDE for parents to sit at, or for kids to enjoy lunch. I LOVE bringing my kids there!

I see that you live in St. Pete. I don't know of any there. I live in Cape Coral. Check out the Parent & Child magazine. It is free & you can find it at most childrens stores & consignment shops. They will list indoor playgrounds. I take my 3 year old grandson to two different places here in the Cape. I also found that some gymnastic places have programs for toddlers. Good luck! (aren't they fun at this age??)

Hi Kelly,

I'm not sure where you live but there is a bounce house place called Bounce U in Largo. If you "google" it, you will see the website. I've been there once and am actually going to a birthday party there tomorrow. I thought it was a lot of fun and the kids that were there had a blast.
It's just off 66th St & Bryan Dairy. There is also another indoor place around 4th St. N & 38th Ave. but I don't remember the name and have never been there.

Hope that helps a little.

Good luck!

There's Planet Jump in the Pinellas Park area. There's Bounce U or U Bounce (I always get it mixed up) in Largo. Planet Jump seems to cater to younger children like yours. He will love it. There's Superman, Cars, and other cartoon characters. We had our daughter's 2-year birthday. They all had a blast.

Hi K....

My daughter turned two on October 2nd and she LOVES the indoor play areas at Great Explorations in St. Pete! No bouncy houses, but there's so much for the imagination! A water room where the kids can play with water tables and look at fish tanks without getting soaked; a "Publix" supermarket where they can play pretend cashiers, customers, bakers, etc.; a firehouse, a pizza parlor, a vet clinic, a tree fort, and much more! They always have special events with new types of areas to play and a year membership is REALLY affordable! It's also adjacent to Sunken Gardens which makes for a nice afternoon in the weather we're enjoying!

Hope this helps!

I have been to Planet Jump, which is north on US 19 about 15 minutes. I used to go to Ultimate Playzone, but that place closed. :( I've also heard that St. Pete Beach community center has an area. I haven't been there, but I plan to check it out soon. Summer is coming, so asthma or no... we'll all be playing indoors!

My son too has asthma and he is now 8 1/2 yrs old. We go to a place here in Bradenton/Sarasota called Bounce U. It is a fantastic play place. Has two rooms that have diff. bounce "houses" or slides etc. We just attended a Birthday party there and he had a blast. It is a bit pricey but they do have some specials. Such as on Valentines Day, you can drop off your child for 4-6 hrs for about $25. I am sure that you and your son could go there for that time and price. If you're anything like me, I JUST now started being WILLING to do this. He is now 8 and I have not left him at one of these yet but have always gone with him. Maybe they will have something in St. Pete like this.

Hi K.,
Not sure of your location but here's a few ideas:

Play Away (Venice and Lakewood Ranch)
Bounce 2 U (I think that's the name--the one I'm thinking of is on Clark Rd. in Sarasota)

I took my son to Play Away regularly when he was younger and he really liked it.

Planet Jump is great. The thing about Planet Jump is that they are 100% open play. They do have parties, but do not close the open play. They are always open where Bounce U has very limited hours. So if you just decided to go out of the blue Planet Jump is the place you want to go. NO outside drinks or food allowed, they have it for sale. Large selection for a bounce place. It's located in Clearwater/Largo next to Honeywell off of Ulmerton and HWY 19 ( you can not see it from hwy 19). There is also The Ultimate Party Play Zone on 62nd Ave. That is close to you and has bounce houses, but also a great area for your 2 year old to play in. My little ones love it there too. For something with open play and also provides age appropriate classes try Cafe BeBe in Largo. One more idea for a two year old is you getting a Busch Garden's Florida fun pass. It's good all year. You pay a the price of a one day admission and go all year. You son will be free. If you go in the late afternoon after nap time it's perfect. There is Dragon Land that is perfect for 2 year old. Water play area, huge sand box, bounce house, kiddie rides. They have the train you can ride through the Animal Safari, a show he would love, just a plethora of things to do with him. I usually go for a 3 hours and leave. It's perfect. My kids also liked the rides in Timbuktu. Jungula is now open has great climbing area and another water play area. Animals for him to explore with. Lots of other options there for a 2 year old. Beats the heck out of Lowry Park Zoo. You have to pay separately for rides and they don't always let you bring food in to the park. Looks like you are in for a fun year with your little one. Enjoy it!!!

Monkey Joes is an incredible place for indoor play. 2 and under pay $5.99 to get in. Over 3 pay $7.99. Not sure where you live, but there are a few in the Orlando area. My daughter and all of her friends love it there. She just turned 3 and has a 1 year old sister that enjoyed it as well.

Good luck,

Well, I do not know for your area but Monkey Joes is a fun place with different bouncy things. It is probably similar to the other ones mentioned. I do not have one near me and the only place I have seen one is Orlando. Look online and the site will tell you the locations. Your local YMCA is a good place to check too. I took my son there for gymnastics (He is 2). Good luck!
