Hi mamas!
I've been an organizer of a small playgroup for almost a year now, and we've usually been meeting at someone's house.
Now with the fall/winter coming, we are looking for some baby friendly indoor places, fun things to do, etc... we are running out of ideas what to do... so any help is greatly appreciated!!!
The kids are from about 1 year to 18 months old.

Try the community centers in the area -- Mt Scott has an open play group/gym and they have one time seasonal classes that start for kids around 18 months.
The coffee shop Urban Grind is a great place, it is a cool coffee house with great coffee and a great place for kids! It has a few different play rooms, two for toddler/preschool age and one for babies with couches, swings, baby toys etc. It is located at 911 NE 14th off Sandy Blvd. They don't have a parking lot though, so you have to park along the street and it can be hard to find a close spot.
Mcdonalds and some burger king have play areas.Malls have play areas.There is a cafe in Portland called P And B Ellies-plays or pupet showes and kid friendly?Look in the free family magazines and newspaper that come out monthly(pick them up at the library - there are several}.Try looking at the mult. co. library they have a listening there for fun things to do in the community.Borders have free music concerts and story time.Library has free storytime,etc try diffrent librarys for variety online.Mabey try Potland Parks and Rec. site.Indoor swim places.Some movie theatres have a mom and baby cry room and I think you can still see and hear the movie.Look in the AandE part of the oregonian- you can see the newspapers free if you dont subscribe or oregonlive.com good luck! OMSI has a great play area for kids. Kids Club Fun and Fitness in Vancouver is a fun place too, they have a small section for just the little ones. Mom's play free there, so you can go through the jungle gym and slide with your kids-clean environment.
We have been to the urban grind and love it. Plus there is a place called Beaterville Cafe, 2201 N Killingsworth They have a ton of kids' books and big booths in back. Their food is cheap and delicious, their coffee is great, and they have lots of chickens and car parts on the walls. Last time I went Everett and a little girl he met there were jumping around the booths doing the chicken dance from Wiggles at the top of their lungs. No one batted an eye. Except, of course, my husband and my mom, who were a little embarrassed. The servers and the other customers couldn't have cared less. It was awesome.
