Looking for Fun Activities

I am looking for fun, free, or inexpensive activites in the Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Arlington, and Grand Prairie area. We are participating in library activities, have found several parks, and know about Splash Factory in Grand Prairie ( $1.00 entrance per kid, splash and play park). Any other ideas?

What can I do next?

J.,

There is a great new benefit that is free to Grand Prairie residents this year. Lynn Creek Park (near the Marina at Joe Pool Lake) gives free admittance to their park for anyone with a GP address on their driver's license. There is a beach and swimming area, playground, picnic areas, boat ramps and it is also a great place to ride bikes - safe from the busy street traffic. Hope you have a great summer!

You may want to look into a meetup.com group. I belong to 2 mommy groups. The activities are fun, educational and either free or very inexpensive. It is a great place for both you and your children to make new friends. For the younger ones, the Oaks Baptist Church in GP has the program Mainly Music on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. It is $1 per family which includes a juice and snack for all. I know someone mentioned movies, but I just wanted to add that pretty much every city has the free or dollar movie program going on. In GP, I believe it is Friday. I think that AMC at The Parks in Arl. has $1 (for charity) movies on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Hi, J.. when I moved to Grand Prairie from PA and had small kiddos, it was kind of intimidating as I didn't know anyone. However, I found a group called MOMS Club. It stands for "Moms Offering Moms Support". Most moms are stay at home moms and get together with the younger children and have play dates. We did several inexpensive things together and the other moms creativeness always surprised me. My children had a lot of fun and met plenty of other children. I know they have a meeting at TLC the first Friday of each month. (it's been 12 years since I was with them) When I was with this group, there were alot of homeschool moms. If you do not live in Grand Prairie, each city has their own MOMS group as it is a National Organization.

Mike Lewis park is a great park up in N. Grand prairie.

Hi J.!

I am a GP homeschool mom too :) We are going to the Splash Factory this morning! I love that it is so inexpensive!

During the summer there are free movies at UA8 and Arlington has a lot of cool water parks too. We also love to go to Joe Pool Lake's marina and feed the ducks and fish. The kids never get tired of that!

Keep in touch, I would love to hang out sometime! I have two girls ages almost 10 and 7 and a 3 yr old boy. We have a homeschool group that meets on Fridays at our church (if you arent already in a group!).

TTYL!
