I will be relocating to the Hinsdale area in September. I am currently pregnant with twins and due to my prior pregnancy am considered high risk. I am looking for an ob in the Hinsdale area. Anyone know of a good one in that area? Thank you for your help.

I will be new to the Chicagoland area. So, if you know any good preschools, playgroups, etc also I would greatly appreciate it.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to everyone for their support and great suggetions. It has been tough knowing that I am going to leave my ob and doctors that I am familiar with and trust. But, it will be easier now with all the great things you had to say about your doctors and the confidence that you show in them. Thank you again.

Dr Pamela Dorne has an office in Hinsdale. Her River Forest office # is ###-###-#### and the Hinsdale # ###-###-####. Her office staff is wonderful and I can't say enough positive things about Hinsdale's NICU. My daughter spent 10 days in there and everyone was wonderful. Dr Gauthier followed me also and he is amazing. Good luck!

Dr. Virginia Kelly at Good Samaritan in Downer's Grove is fantastic. She used to work out of Northwestern downtown but has been with a practice closer to her home in Hinsdale for a number of years now, and I still drive out there to see her for my annual once a year. She delivered both my girls and I would trust her with my life. Great bedside manner--LISTENS to you!! Here's her number: ###-###-####
Good Luck!

My OB was Dr. Mario C. Yu. ###-###-####. He has an office in Oak Brook,1919 Midwest Rd., but delivers out of Hinsdale Hospital. I was high risk as well, being 38 when I delivered and having diabetes (not gestational) and being overweight before I got pregnant, but I had a healthy baby boy, and I literally have Dr Yu to thank for that. Message me if you want to read the whole story!

BTW-You will LOVE Hinsdale and the staff in labor and delivery. My cousin Kathy works there (in L & D) and I have never met a staff of nurses that every single one of them is nice, knows what their doing and doesn't treat you like you know nothing! In my opinion, Hinsdale Hospital is THE best place to have a baby (or 2)! Good Luck, and if you should happen to have Kathy U for a nurse, tell her you somewhat know her cousin, K.!

P.S. I also went to Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Gauthier is the Dr. I beleive Nancy is referring too! He was assiting with Dr. Yu with my case. He is a great Dr. as well and his office is located at the Hospital. He does have a very dry sense of humor though, but is very accurate in doing his job!He come highly recommended by hospital nurses! I did find out that the best person to talk to about a Dr. is the nurses who work with them!

Hi C.:

How exciting for you & your family!! I don't have a reference for you in Hinsdale, but you will be rather close to Loyola Hospital and they have a great NICU and L&D department. If you go onto their website they can help you find a high-risk doctor. One of my colleagues at work recently had a high-risk delivery at Loyola, but I cannot recall the doctor's name. The practice she used was specifically for high risk. I also see Dr. Senica in Downers Grove for regular OB, but neither he or his son specialize in twins. Best of luck to you!!

Try Doctors Steven & William Senica, Gale Symmons, and Kim Bruneau On Main Street in Downers Grove. It's a four doctor practice and they work with Maternal Fetal Medicine at Hinsdale Hospital. I was a gestational diabetic and Maternal Fetal Medicine handled my level 2 care and the staff in both offices is fantastic.

I live in Downers and the trip from Downtwon DG to Hinsdale Hospital is about 15 to 20 minutes.

Good Luck!!

I was hi-risk with twins and used Dr. Mario Yu, who is in Oakbrook (very close to Hinsdale). He is fantastic!!! He works in consultation with maternal-fetal medicine at Hinsdale hospital. I am partial to him, since I was a L&D nurse at Hinsdale Hospital and know what a magnificent doctor/surgeon he is. He is a solo practitioner, rather soft spoken and has a very gentle, soothing demeanor. If something goes wrong, he is the man you want to be taking care of you. I've seen him do some amazing stuff. Also, he is one of the only doctors you will find who has the competence and confidence to still deliver twins naturally (only if appropriate of course). The only down side is that he is a solo practitioner, so there is the odd chance that he may be out of town if something unsheduled happens to you. In that case Dr. Kubychek would take care of you. He is a very kind, middleaged man. He is a good doctor but not in my opinion with the skills that Dr. Yu has. However, it is very rare for Dr. Yu to take time off, especially knowing that he has hi-risk patients to take care of. One last thought, you might hear alot of people say that if you're hi-risk you must go to Northwestern downtown. Not true! As a nurse, I worked at several different hospitals and I can assure you that Hinsdale is just as qualified to handle hi-risk cases(except for the very rare instances) as Northwestern. Plus, it is a nicer, friendlier atmosphere.

I was in the hospital for 2 months during my pregancy and delivered the girls at 33 weeks. They are now 9 months and doing fantastic!

There is no twins group in the Hinsdale area unfortunately, but tons of great playgroups offered through the local churches, library, etc. Hinsdale is a very family friendly community and you should have no problem meeting other moms. I live in La Grange (2 tons east) and have just my twin girls Claire and Caroline. If you ever need advice, or just want talk, let me know.

Good luck!

I loved Dr. William Meyers. He used to be at Good Sam's in Downers Grove and recently moved to Hinsdale. I was high risk with my daughter who was born at 28 weeks. He delivered both her and my second son 3 years later (I was so happy wth him I requested him again even though with my son I was not really high risk.)

Hinsdale, IL 60521-3829

Good luck to you. If you see him, tell him A. Maurer says hi. He will remember me since he delivered my 12 oz baby girl.

Hi C.!

I second the woman who said Dr. Russell Kubycheck ###-###-####). He is wonderful - there is no one better! If you ask many of the nurses in the labor and delivery dept. at Hinsdale, they will most likely tell you that they love "Kuby"! His nurse practitioner, Laurrie, is also a super person to talk to - I just saw her this week for my annual check-up.

I also saw Dr. Gauthier for genetic testing during my second pregnancy. He is very business-like but you can tell he knows his business!

Good Luck!

I do not know if they do high risk, but this is such a fabulous practice that I would call them and ask...West Suburban Women's Health. It is an all women practice with doctors and midwives and they are just INCREDIBLE. We used the midwives, but met most of the doctors through some issues and have never had such kind, caring and compassionate people care for us. My husband and I dearly love them as you can tell. They are in Willowbrook and deliver at Hinsdale Hospital. Their number is 630-654-baby.

Congrats!!!

My OB/GYN is Dr. Kimberly Napolitano, with Women's Healthcare of Hinsdale. They are at 908 Elm Street in Hinsdale (near Odgen and York). PHone number is ###-###-#### (I think). I used her for both my kids and she was fabulous. I wasn't high risk though. You could always call them and ask for their recommendation. The office staff there has always been wonderful!

Dear C.,
Wow, You will be in our hearts. Welcome to the Hinsdale area. You will find a mirade of specialists. If you start with the ones recommended by your insurance provider, you can meet a few before committing to any particular one. There are many amazing doctors in this area...depending on your previous high risk issues.

I would like to offer my services as a doula. It is a woman who emotionally supports a mom in labor.

With hope and joy,

Hi ther I live in Hinsdale as well and I was 38 when I had my baby so I was considered High risk..Maternal/Fetal Medicine Center at Hisdale Hopsital was great. I saw him three times. He is a bit dry on the humor dept but great at his job. He was so accurate with my son it was scary. I had a beautiful healthy baby boy! I am drawing a blank on his name at this time,I will see if I can find it. Hinsdale is also a great place to have a baby. I used to work there at the hospital. I also had Kimberly Napalatanio as my MD and she is the best!!

Hi C.,
Dr. Russell Kubycheck is wonderful. He is located at 333 Chestnut Suite 207 in Hinsdale ###-###-####). I have been with him for about a year and am completely satisfied. I had gotten the recommendation from my coworkers, 2 of which he helped with their high risk pregnancies. His nurse practitioner is equally as wonderful. Good luck!

Hi C.,
Congratulations!

I delivered twin boys at Hinsdale Hospital last June and had a great experience. My ob practice is just a short drive from Hinsdale in Willowbrook, West Suburban Women's Health (www.westsuburbanwomenshealth.com), which is a group with 4 women doctors. I saw them all during my twin pregnancy and Dr. Cardone delivered my boys. They are all wonderful women.

Since you have a high risk pregnancy, the OB practice works hand in hand with the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center at Hinsdale Hospital to monitor you. Dr. Gauthier and his new partner Dr. Meyer are the doctors there.

I have found my local twins group to be a great resource and would recommend checking one out near you. I belong to Double Blessings in Glendale Heights, but I also believe there is one in Downers Grove, which would be closer for you. We have a twins resale coming up in September you might want to check out for any extra gear you'll need at great prices- http://www.doubleblessingsmotc.com/fundraising/fundraisin...

Best wishes to you and feel free to e-mail me with any questions or concerns!
