Hi,

I would like to start my baby (almost 11 months old) in swimming lessons soon. Any suggestions as to where or how I should go about it would be appreciated!

The YMCA in Eagan offers infant swimming lessons which are great! They usually have sign up around this time of year for the summer session. Otherwise if you can get ahold of a community bulletin for Dakota County, they should have listings at nearby schools for infant swimming for a reasonable price. I work in Eagan but I live in Washington County and they have a booklet with many different classes and programs for both adults and kids throughout the county.

Hi R.,

My 11-month-old daughter takes lessons at the Southwest YMCA in Eagan. I teach swimming there, so I might be a little biased. :) They just started a new session this week (April 17) but registration is still open for many classes. Classes meet once a week for 7 weeks. They offer Parent/Child classes on Monday a.m., Saturday a.m., Monday p.m. or Wednesday p.m. The morning classes are held in the zero-depth pool (89 degrees) and the evening classes are held in the lap pool (85 degrees). Price ranges from $10 to $64 depending on whether or not you have a YMCA membership. I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have, otherwise you could call the YMCA at ###-###-#### for more info.

i'm attending the Wise Swim School in Apple Valley with my little one. They need to be 6 months.
The reason i like it is that its a nice small pool and the water is very warm. When i took classes with my elder son, the cold was was very off putting.

check with your local community ed-they should have a waterbabies type class and they are usually reasonable and have a variety of times. Tip...look for one with a therapeutic pool if they have it...it will be warmer!

Try community education, they have evening classes and foss swim school has a variety of classes (they are pricier). I have an 11 month old daughter also and am going to start her at either the YMCA or Inver Grove Heights Community Center. These are other places you could check. B.

I started my daughter when she was 14 months, at the Wise Swim School - corner of Johnny Cake Ridge Road and County Road 42 in Apple Valley - a year ago. They are fantastic! They accept infants at six months.

Hi R.,

My name is A. and I live in Eagan. We are currently taking our daughter (7 months) to swim classes through community education in Apple Valley on Sunday afternoons. They seem to have a wide variety of dates and times available. Our daughter has an absolute blast.

Feel free to contact me if you wish.
