Hi Mamas-
I am looking for a lightweight stroller for my 14 month old. I would like a basket for storage underneath and a seat that offers various recline positions. I do not want to spend more than 100.00 as this is our 5th stroller purchase:) Any brands you love?? Any features I should consider?? Thanks for your thoughts!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for your input. I am debating between the Maclaren Volo and the Graco Ipo. I have the Maclaren double and know it is made well and easy to push, I also have a Graco and know it is ok, but the Ipo does recline. Thanks again for your suggestions.

I like the Combi's best. I think even the bottom of the line have seat backs that recline. They are also super-light. I just bought one in very good condition on Craig's List for $25. Good Luck!

If light is the key then you want a combi, you'll definitely have to buy it used, they are expensive, but you can set an infant carseat in it, it fully reclines and has a basket and snack cups for kids and mom and shoulder strap for carrying. I love my single maclaren, it does all the same things, it just isn't light weight, but i fly with it b/c it is MUCH sturdier...

We've gone through several strollers as well. I second the Maclaren Volo. It doesn't have the recline, but will hold your child up to 55lbs so hopefully will be the last stroller you need to buy. It does have a basket underneath, you will have to buy a cupholder seperately if you want one, but its soooo compact, lightweight, and easy to push-even one-handed. I love it!

I have a 10 mo old and have been doing alot of research on which lightweight or umbrella stroller to get. I didn't want to spend too much either and couldn't find one I liked at BRU. They were either too expensive, didn't recline, too short or my feet would kick the back wheels. I finally ordered one from www.chitchatbaby.com It's the Mia Moda Facile. It's a very well made stroller, not cheap like those umbrella ones, it's tall and reclines all the way. The basket is kind of small underneath but good enough to hold a few things. So far I really like it. It was $59.99, no shipping or sales tax and I found a coupon code online for 5% off.

We have a zopper twist which I am very happy with. It does recline but no fully. It has a fantastic sun shade and my little guy seems to be very comfortable. Good luck with your search.

Oh if you go on costco's website you can get the stroller for 119

We have three strollers, a nice one, an umbrella one, and in between. The in between one is the one I recommend due to price. Here is a link: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=333182... It reclines about 90 degrees and has a very large basket below. It also has two cupholders! It retails at BRU for $49.99. We use this one at the zoo, musuems, etc. We don't have to worry about someone stealing it as much as our nice one, and use the nice one when we don't have to leave it unattended. We have used this one for the past year and really like it. Good luck!

Graco Metro Travel Lite... ours came with the carrier seat, but we are using it well beyond that! It can fold with one hand, reclines all the way back and has a sizeable basket on the bottom. My 10 month old loves it and my 2 1/2 year is pretty excited when he gets to ride in it. It's very light and we have been very happy with it.

Graco makes two umbrella strollers - I think they are called Vegas LPs or something like that. They are Graco, so they are made very well, they have reclining seats, locking wheels, and a small basket underneath. The deluxe one also has a cup holder for the person pushing. The handles are ergonomic, curved in, and very comfortable. The less expensive one is $80 at Babies R Us, I bought the deluxe version for $99 and I LOVE it.

We have a Maclaren Triumph which we love. We actually bought it from Babies R Us. It was the floor model so we were able to get it for around $100 which was nice. It's an umbrella stroller that reclines, has a basket, shade, and moves very well. I know the Volo is cheaper and more lightweight so you may want to try that also. For us, it was very important that the stroller was well-made and able to be pushed around with ease. It moves well enough to even be able to push it with one hand. We also have the Peg Perego Aria which is a surprisingly lightweight stroller, but with all the features. We bought this stroller before the Maclaren years ago. Our only criticism is that it was a little difficult to push because the wheels seemed to have a mind of their own. However, newer models may be better in that regard. Good luck!

I just get my Maclaren from craiglist for $75 (new is about $300). For me, basket is a must have and if there is cupholder that will be great.

I purchase the Chicco Capri stroller for a vacation we went on & absolutely love it! Here is a link for it:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=260902...

Great features are: Lightweight, one-handed fold up, storage bin, 5 point harness system, has two reclining positions, folds up & fits in its own carry bag. Its priced at only $70.00. It also has a detachable sunshade & is quite comfortable.

Hope this helps!

Hi
I actually just posted a couple of weeks ago about a good umbrella stroller. I ended up buying the Maclaren Volo, and I really like it. It's my 5th stroller too. I was between that and the triumph, but I didn't want to spend a lot. I've seen some triumphs for $90 on ebay after I already bought mine. My friend said she saw some '07 and '08 Volo's on-line that were under $100 (not sure of website). Good luck!!

Hi! I just got rid of our oversized stroller and replaced it with the McClaren Volo. I LOVE IT!! and I recomend it to everyone I know! Its by far the BEST umbrella stroller. Actually Most of the Super Targets are selling them for 99.99 instead of the 119.99 at Babies R US. ( Thats where we bought ours )---well worth the price! :) -- I actually bought the graco IPO took it home put it together and had my son sit in it. The back wouldnt hold him up far enough so that he could sit up and look around, and the base took up a lot of room. I actually returned it that same night and bout the Volo in place of it! hope that helps!

I know you are looking for a recline, but if you can let that go, I would get the McClaren Volo. Both of my girls have slept in it regardless of the recline. It is right around 100, superlight, you close it by flicking a lever with your toe and pulling the carry handle. It folds so compactly you can sling that handle over your shoulder if you are getting on a bus! There is storage underneath and the handles are the "stick" style where you could hang a purse or bag on them. We have a nice Peg Perego but my husband prefers the McL almost every time we go anywhere.

And I totally get the 5 strollers note...we purchased our 6th and 7th last year. :) Good luck!

Hopefully, someone else comes up with a better answer, but we just went through this search and couldn't find anything that reclines decently for under 100. We ended up getting a City Mini which we love, but it was 220. We chose it for the weight (12 lbs) and the ease of fold (literally pull a handle/strap where the child sits). It's a dream for getting in and out of the car.

Good luck. I'll be excited if you find a better option.
