I would not recommend Wells Fargo, we had an unpleasant experience dealing with a lender there. Nothing seemed to go right and he wasn't really representing us well.

I am in the mortgage lending business and i have also bought my first house 2 years ago so i hope i can help. my first suggestion would be to pull your credit and make sure there isn't anything on there that shouldn't be. (go to freecreditreport.com)if there is anything that may be affecting your credit score- take care of it right away. a credit score of 720 or above will really help you get the best rate. you have a few months to get your score up if needed. my sister is a loan officer for Vermillion State Bank, her office is out of Hastings, which is a little ways, but we just bought a place in NE Mpls with them. They are very straight forward and will work to help you find what is best for YOU not THEM, since they are a smaller bank, they are much more customer service oriented, they WANT your business, I think they are great!!
