Looking for Puzzle/game

ok moms, i need some help. i found a puzzle/game at our library that i remember playing with when i was in grade school, but no amount of google searches will help me find it.

the puzzle consists of smallish wooden geometric shapes (circle, square, triangle, etc..) and about 12 or 15 double sided cards. the cards are a mixture of mathcing the shapes up and using the shapes to create a picture of sorts. my son played with it, and he loved it. i would really like to find something like that for christmas, but haven't had any luck yet. unfortunately, the one the library had didn't really have information with it except for the top of the original box. it was called Discovery Shapes, and that returned nothing for me on google.

if any of you have this item, or have some suggestions on where to search for it, or how to search for it, i'd appreciate it. thanks so much!!

What can I do next?

I don't think this is exactly what you described, but my now 6-year-old has loved a tangram set called "Mighty Mind" for a couple years now. There are 2 versions, ages 3-8 and 5 and up. I recently bought the harder one at Borders.

It sounds like you might be referring to tangrams. Here is a set I found online. In this particular set you have to purchase the cards separately. To purchase online check out teacher supply websites, educational toy websites. Also check with a local teacher supply store (if you live near Great Southern Shopping Center near Bridgeville I think they have a Holcombs) or even the school supply section of an office supply store.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Our library has it too (Pleasant Hills) and I went on eBay and bought one after borrowing theirs. It was by Discovery Toys and called Design Discoveries.

I just searched eBay and what came up instead was called "Playful Patterns". It looks to be the same thing though.

Hi M.,

I don't have the game - sorry, but I do have a suggestion for how to search for it:

How about going to different websites for toy stores/educational materials stores like Toysrus.com and searching for it that way?

Hope you find it!

M.

I think i know exactly what you are talking about. My daughter played with one at my bestfriends house this summer. Her mom is a teacher. I will call her and get the info on it for you. (one of the sheets was of like a train i think and another one had a sun at the top with maybe flowers.)
