I am looking for a good no nonsense marriage counseler in the Grapevine/Southlake area. We want someone who is objective and can help my husband and I get through a relationship stalemate. I would also be interested in a marriage boot camp or retreat if anyone has one to recommend.

L., I know of a Marriage Encounter Weekend coming up in Dallas Feb 20-22 www.encounter.org have heard alot of great things about it. If you would like more information you can PM me.
Best of luck and blessings to you for a wonderful renewed marriage. Nice to see you wanting to work on "things" instead of walking away or just ignoring. Agree marriage is always something that must be worked on as can get stale.

Hi L.,

My husband and I went to Relationship Rich in Irving. The leaders there are fantastic. Good luck to you!

If you attend church, your pastor/priest can most certainly help. If you don't feel comfortable going to your own pastor/priest..go to another church. Most pastors have some sort of marriage or conseling certification. You can always call around the area churches to get more info. Or you can always ask your general practioner dr or ob/gyn for recommendations!

I know S.O.S. (mentioned below) and I hear it is a great program though I have not been to it myself. Another option is www.relationshiprich.org. It is based on a similar philosophy and I have been through it, so I can vouch for it myself. I was divorced after 15 years of marriage, and am now in a relationship that will likely lead to marriage. I am not willing to put up with the garbage and miserableness that was a part of my marriage, so my new significant other and I went to Relationship Rich when we found ourselves in a stalemate of sorts. It teaches better ways to communicate, how not to get in "right fights" that end up as power struggles with bad feelings, and how to take care of your own business so that you're not bringing your own issues to the relationship. They have an 80% success rate at saving marriages that were headed for divorce -- but it is not only for crisis situations, but also to enhance any marriage.

Good luck!!

This is the only thing that has worked for us!! We've had THREE counselors, a pastor and one marriage seminar (and went through it twice) AND did a renewal of our vows seminar!! Check out this site and just do it! BUT, only one of you go to Basic 1 and then the next month, go to Basic 2 while the other goes to Basic 1. If you can go first, he'll see the change in you and your eyes and it will work out!! It's not religious, it's not a hoax. It worked for us b/c we deal with our own junk and then what's going on with us as a couple. It's experiental training based on Dr. Phil's Pathways! Trust it...I get nothing from this, it's just the only thing that worked for us. I was going to leave in January and this saved our marriage and as my husband said, it saved his life!!

Hi L.,
Anita Thomas Peters is located in Bedford, right off of Central in the Washington Mutual building behind Cheddars. It takes about 10 minutes to get there from Southlake. She is great - she practices with her husband, so if you want a male counselor (or if your husband does), he is an option as well. This is their website: http://www.partnersincounseling.com/

Good luck!
