Am I the only pregnant mom out there frustrated with the lack of selection for maternity clothes? I feel like there's only
Motherhood Maternity, which is overpriced and doesn't have a great selection. I'm short, which really doesn't help
the matter when it comes to finding pants. Where do you gals find maternity clothes? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Thank you for all the great responses. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's had a hard time find decent clothes for a decent price!

I got most of my stuff on Gap clearance. I had the worlds best pair of jeans. Gave them away after my second, and now I'm trying for a third!

For my third I ended up resorting to Craigslist and Ebay. You're not limited to what is in the stores at any given time and you can get really good deals (sometimes on "lots"). I found lots of nice tops with a lot of life left in them and didn't have to spend that much. I did find pants at Motherhood because I work in an office and like their dress pants (just not the price).

Aww hun, how about I find some pictures of what was out there when I was pregnant and you will hug the person working at the store.

No lie, when I had my oldest, who is 23, it was a hunt to find anything that didn't have a high neck. Apparently a pregnant woman was not supposed to show neck back in the 80s. No it was not a style other than in maternity wear. :(

Sorry I can't help your quest, hopefully I made you laugh. :)

I hear you on that when i was pregnant i felt like i was wearing the same thing over and over. Try an outlet mall for motherhood they are usually a little cheaper. but i would also try target they dont have to bad of stuff and its much cheaper. I also just bough much bigger normal clothes to wear since i was sick of maturnity clothing. I did a lot of long shirts with leggings under them and boots. wore that to work alot plus its so comfortable. You can also try second hand stores they will have alot of clothes. hope it helps.

I was so hormonal that ended up chewing out the sales ladies at Motherhood Maternity everytime I went there. All the cute stuff goes up to size 12. Hello, I think the average size is 14! I also have a friend that is a size 0/2 that had trouble finding stuff small enough. Drove us both crazy! I found a place in Toronto that had great clothes for reasonable prices, size 0 to 18 in EVERYTHING! I bought the store out. It was 10 years ago and I can't remember the name, but you could try google and see if you can order on line. I sold all of my stuff on Ebay to a lady who was so grateful to find stylish stuff in sizes 14 & 16.

I had a hard time finding cute maternity clothes too. I ended up wearing leggings alot. So comfy! Ive noticed over sized tops are everywhere this fall, which look great with leggings. Maybe buying a larger size in regular clothes would work well and you can avoid Motherhood Maternity all together!

I agree about the sucky selection at MM. Most of their clothes look stuck in the 80s and not in a good way. I shopped plus sizes at Target and Walmart.

I got a lot of, if not all of my stuff from Target, Old Navy and Motherhood. Pea in a Pod is super expensive but if you shop their clearance their prices are civil on some things. I also got a couple cute, funny tops from ThinkGeek but it's a niche. CafePress is a neat place to get something a little different, they have maternity shirts.

I liked Old Navy and Target... BUT, this 3rd time around, I was able to wear 'normal' clothes as long as they were LONG and a size bigger than usual (weird, I showed fastest with my 3rd, but was the smallest out of 3 pregnancies....)

I feel your pain! I work in a "corporate" environment, so the jeans and sweaters they carry at Motherhood Maternity really doesn't help much. Most Old Navy stores only carry their maternity online now again it's pretty casual.

Pea in a Pod is outrageously expensive! I have found a few cute/wearable/reasonable items at Target. I just bought a dress and a fall coat there. I also googled "Pea in a Pod" and "Motherhood Maternity" (same company) and found a Macy's near me that carried those lines. MUCH better selection! Plus, if you have a Macy's card and the coupons (20% off) you can use them on the Motherhood stuff AND you go by the Macy's return policy NOT the ridiculous Motherhood one!

I'm also 5' tall, so finding things that are proportional is a challenge. All of those maxi dresses make me look like I'm about 3 and playing "dress up" in my mother's clothing!

Good luck!

Target, Kohls, and Burlington all have maternity clothes that are less expensive than Motherhood Maternity. I also like Old Navy's, which several others have mentioned.

I went out a few weeks ago to shop for jeans I need petite/short wasn't going to pay the price @ Gordmans,Motherhood had a limited style that I didn't like,Penny's weren't on sale,& just forget Kohl's they had 2 pairs that were huge so hmm i'm guessing they are soon going to stop carrying maternity clothes,Old Navy were over priced not on sale, bit online has a variety & lots on clearance just don't like the idea of not being able to try them on beofre purchase,so I resulted into buying a clearance pair of capris that fit great with flats my mom bought me their $7.00 clearance pair not short but they will work for now still a bit too big since all there is is a small baby bump.Target carries maternity but it is very liminted mainly our store has dresses 2 styles of shirts & maybe 2 colors of jeans to choice from (will go online to see if there is more variety)I loved it when Kmart carried maternity clothes I had always found something that would work for the few months that I needed that extra room.

I am sure this depends on where you live but I had a lot success with Old Navy with my last pregnancy...Target too. And this may depend on your body type/size and how you grow during your pregnancy but I am a big fan of buying regular clothes in larger sizes...I feel like the current trend of leggings and long tunic tops makes it easy to dress while pregnant, I just bought a l or xl instead of s or m. Of course most days, pregnant or not, I wear yoga pants and a t shirt :) OH! my mom bought me a few maternity items as a gift once and we went to JC Penny...really liked their selection but may be as expensive as Motherhood Maternity.

I also liked Old Navy, but since we didn't have a lot of money to spend on clothes that I'd only wear for a few months, I stuck mostly to eBay and Craigslist. If you have children's consignment shops nearby, some of those also sell maternity clothes. The ones that I went to were very picky about the clothes they would buy from people, so whatever they acquired to resell was in very good condition and in style. Not everyone want to wear used clothes, but others are fine with it. If that doesn't bother you, I'd recommend that route.
