Mom of a 27 month old boy, who won't even let me come near him with the tooth brush. We have the same problem giving him medicine also. Moms any suggestions??

What can I do next?

You can try the inexpensive electric ones with his favorite character (they have so many with Diego etc.) or the ones that play music...

Do you give medicine in a syringe...my son loves to squirt it in his mouth himself and he is the same age as yours...it doesn't make a mess and my son thinks it's fun.

You might try the Angel Care toothbrush. Google it for the best price. Your child bites on it, and it cleans all three sides of the teeth at once.

We let our son pick out his own tooth brush, then mommy gets a turn to brush while singing 2 songs. After mommy's turn, it is his turn for 2 songs. He loves to brush & asks to do it all the time!

For medicine...he's had some minor health issues, so we've had to give him lots! :( I found that bribes work! (suckers, chocolate milk, etc. things he loves but doesn't normally get!) Now, he gives himself his own medicine, and gets a "special treat" after!

Hi Jackie,
I am not sure if this will work, but I would try taking him to the store and letting him choose his own toothbrush. That way you know he likes it, maybe he would be more likely to use it. Also, try brushing your teeth together with him. Tell him to show you how to do it, and repeat what he does. Maybe even buy a matching toothbrush for this, and use the same paste as him? I also read in a magazine one woman refers to teeth brushing as "tickling the teeth"... maybe that might work. Try making it into a game, or something fun :) Good luck! (sorry, i have no idea what to do about medicine!)

I still have the same prob with medicine and my son is 4 now. brushing the teeth: i eventually got him an electric toothbrush, let him pick it out and all. at first i just let him hang on to it, he liked doing his tongue. after about an hour he started doing his teeth. i know this is hard to believe cause all answers on here i am always like wow, thatll never work with him. but now he loves to brush teeth. we still dont like toothpaste and will not brush unless at school or on occasion with toothpaste, but the important thing is that he is doing it. i always make sure he gets the back and all. we play a spitting game into the sink when he chooses to use toothpaste. maybe this will work, maybe not, just had to try to help because i've been there...ALOT. any advice on medicine would be good to read though. my son wont even do chewable or dissolve in a drink kink...good luck
