Movie Magic Mike

Ok, so I am of a certain age and I am amazed how many of my female friends are on there way to see Magic Mike, the movie about male strippers.

I mean, there are so many great movies out right now, and this is not even on my list of top 25 I want to see.

I also was a little surprised that one of these women there today, will not allow her husband to go out with the guys for drinks alone. What is that all about?

Anyway, my gay friends are going and want some of us to join them later this week. they said they would pay, but I am just not into it... Sure back in the day we used to go see the guys strip live for birthdays or bachelorette parties, but I guess I am getting old.

You all excited to see this movie?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Just go this message from my friend that went to the movie. "Went to see Magic Mike with the girls today. No plot, poor acting, bad script...so what, who cares???"

They are nuts.. went to one of the Brew Theaters...

Yes I am!! It looks like a really fun night out with my girlfriends. Like when we went to see Mama Mia or Sex in the City.

The movie is actually supposed to be quite good just as a movie, and the fun of the subject matter, great soundtrack and delicious eye candy just add to it.

I dont care to see it. I also don't see the big thrill of 50 shades of gray. Just not my cup of tea I guess. All I know is the movie is about strippers. I saw Joe Somebody on Wendy Williams and I do have to say he is HOT! I can appreciate a male body, and do often, but I don't have any desire to see this movie. However, we are going to take the kids to see Brave tomorrow and I'm looking forward to that! =)

I'm looking forward to seeing it with my girl friends. I don't see it as the same as going to see a stripper, as there is a plotline involved....it's not just gyrating on screen. We won't be seeing it this weekend, as none of us want to have to fight the crowds to do that.

I'm completely looking forward to it. I don't like to go to the male strip club, but this movie is going to be a lot of fun. Let your hair down. Have a good laugh. Go home and take it out on your man! Don't you think going to the movie with your firends sounds like a hoot? And with gay guys, that would truly be hilarious.

I found it awesome that they finally made a movie with male strippers so the men can feel funny when the commercials are constantly advertised. We have to sit through Victoria Secret commercials with them gwaking and previews for The Clients List with the girl wearing barely anything(I hate that because I watch alot of Lifetime and my son is around so I have to quick change the channel just like with the VS commercials. I won't go see the movie but I think it looks funny.

Heck yeah I'm excited to see it. Channing Tatum, half-naked. What woman wouldn't want to see that? ;) It's just a little eye candy. My husband actually wants to see it, too, but he's too embarrassed to go to the theater. What a fun girls' night!

I wouldn't mind for a girls' night because it just looks like fun. I wanna see my honey, Matthew McConnaughey. I've never enjoyed the whole stripper scene, but the high energy of the movie looks liek big fun. I wouldn't go alone.

Like Sara, I could really care less.

My ideal 'Magic Mike' would be a babysitter who would take Kiddo out for a fun day... and leave me alone with my husband!

I am not into male strippers by any means, I have gone ONCE in my life and wanted to leave as soon as we arrived - eww. However, I do like Channing Tatum, he IS a good dancer and this is a movie I would probably see on Netflix when it comes out, but not rushing to the theaters. Now, if some one were to pay my way and I had someone to watch my LO (daddy) I would consider it. Again, I enjoy the male lead - mostly his dancing abilities.

I've no interest at all in seeing this movie. I can appreciate a nice physique on a person but I have no desire to see any of them nude. The very thought of seeing a male stripper makes me gag. I'm no prude, I could watch ladies dance and strip all day. However I could not imagine spending $10 to sit in a theater listening to women get excited over something that isn't appealing to me.

I couldn't care less. Of course, I'm trying to justify going to see the Avengers for the 5th time....

Honestly, I haven't even seen a full preview for this movie, I only know it's about strippers because friends were talking about it on facebook. And I watch a lot of tv in the evenings when kiddo goes to bed, so it surprises me that I haven't seen more if it's so popular.

I am 32 and I have not even heard of it! haha

And about your friend and not allowing her hubby out - there may be more to that than you think. My gf won't let her hubby go either - we always thought she was controlling - turns out he is a severe alcholic and usually ends up hitting her when extremely intoxicated. My hubby has a bit of a drinking problem as well, but has never ever been violent. I "let" him go out, but that is because the worst he has done is pee on the floor thinking he is in the bathroom (see recent post by me).

That's how I felt about Twilight. Dumbest thing I ever saw, was coerced into reading the book (for book club) and then into going to the movie (which was the one of the worst I've ever seen). Everyone in my group went on to read all the books and see all the movies, which I didn't get!

Ok it's confession time, I do want to see this movie!!!!! I haven't ever seen an actual male stripper though ;) I want to see bc I LOVE dancing and Channing Tatum is a great dancer and I also love Matthew Mcconohay (sp?). BUT a couple days ago when the preview was on, my husband chuckled and said 'I know you want to see it!' I told him that yes I kind of did want to bc it looked fun but I would never want him to see a movie full of female strippers so there was no way I would go and see this movie out of respect for him :) He didn't say anything but he did smile and I may have seen his chest puff up a little bit, I think he really appreciated it, so score for me :D If I was single....I must confess I would probably go!!!

I hadn't heard of it until your post so I just watched the trailer and I think it looks fun. I haven't seen a movie in the theater in months, maybe a year? But if I can get some girlfriends together I will see it.

P.S. I've never seen a stripper in person, I think a movie sounds like a better alternative for me.

Please, every one - I'm not trying to be holier than thou, but this is one of the many facets in the decline of our society. Just that little chipping away at our morals and ethics; just a little more won't hurt kinda attitude. My Mother would NEVER have dreamed of seeing something like this in the movies, live or on TV. I can remember getting TERRIBLY embarrassed when the tampon commercials came on TV AFTER I was married even!!!!!

There's no modesty or inhabitions left anymore - if it feels good, do it - I'm sorry - it's just WRONG and it's one reason why I don't support the "Hollywood crowd" - they are some of the biggest proponents of the decline - will do whatever for money and fame.

So to answer your question - NO, not excited and definately won't be seeing it. (I'll get off my soapbox now)

I would guess that going to see it with some girlfriends would probably guarantee husband would get a little when you got home.
It does suck to get old and not care about having fun anymore.
I'm pretty sure I wont be going to see it either unless my mom wants me to take her. Sometimes OLDER ladies are a lot more fun than gals in their 30's.

Not at all planning to see this movie!! I won't even see it when it comes out on DVD. Just doesn't sit right with me -- I'm happily married and have no need to see this type of movie. And I actually have no desire to see it, so that makes it easy for me. :)

Who cares about the movie-go and spend some time with your friends. And it didn't get that badly reviewed. Make a day of it and do lunch or dinner and spend some time just having fun.

And Tracy M is right-Joe is a good looking creature :) He is a supporting character in the HBO series True Blood.

Sorry ladies, but I'm not interested in seeing this movie. Don't want to be in a theater with a lot of women screaming their heads off. I'll probably end up getting a headache. : D
