I received a catalog in the mail today for Muzzy language curricula produced by the BBC. They have Spanish, French, Mandarin, German and Italian. It is for kids as young as 1. My husband and I had discussed that we would love to expose our daughter to other languages and I trust the BBC and they look pretty good. They offer them for a month trial but I cannot find anywhere in their brochure or website how much they are if you keep them.

Has anyone out there looked into these or used them? If so, how much are they if you keep it? Did you like it? Did your kids like it?

They are being advertised in the February "Parents" magazine by Early Advantage at $39.80 (or $33.80 for VHS) per month for 5 months. They are also offering a free plush Muzzy Doll with every paid telephone order, for a limited time.

Website listed is www.early-advantage.com and phone 1-888-595-1242

Hope this helps.

Mine is about 15 years old; I think it cost about $100 at the time. However, the program is FANTASTIC. My son loved it and the approach is much more intuitive than the standard drills and grammar lessons most of us used when learning languages. I would recommend it if you and your child will be able to use it regularly.

We purchased the Spanish Muzzy (both levels) for around $350 two years ago. At the time I had two preschool children and a grader schooler. They watched it everyday during the summer and my younger two children started to pick up and say a few words in Spanish. We were unable to keep up with the daily watching when school started so they did not progress. In my opinion, the program does work, but it takes daily exposure over a long period of time.

I never bought them, so I can not tell you their price, but I used both the British and Italian version in Italy and here in Dallas. They are awsome! And kids love them.
They use the spiral method. Few concepts and they repeat them over and over in different ways, so children can assimilate them. I hope I explain myself!
