Is there a treatment for toddler skin irritation caused by indoor heated pools (public pool) and the chlorine that keeps the pool clean?

What can I do next?

The water and the chlorine levels are both drying to the skin. if it is just the dry itchy skin then I would use Eucerin lotion or some other thick lotion/cream to keep the skin moist.

Does the skin to appear to have a rash? With bumps? Or more of a burn, as in being red and blotchy? And how far spread is it? Just diaper area? And does it cover most of the torso including limbs? Face? Neck? Back?

Make sure you wash little ones with a mild soap after every public pool swimming session. Use lots of conditioner in the hair and a nice, gentle body lotion after swimming. Chlorine is very drying on both scalp and skin.

If the rash does not improve with lotion, I would recommend you try A&D ointment on the rash first. Apply before naps or bedtime to increase length of time on the affected area.

Is it a chemical burn or just an itchy type of rash? If it's just a little rash, then I would try some hydrocortisone cream on it. If it's over a large area of skin, maybe call the pediatrician for a recommendation. I don't know what to do for a chemical burn, but I wanted to suggest that it may be the cause of the irritation. If you don't already, in the future, make sure he rinses off well in the showers after going to the pool. Hope it clears up soon.

It could be hot tub rash and not from the chlorine. You can do a google search to find out more about it.
