I really want to get my 17 mth old daughter into some sort of class. I was working full time and she was in daycare, but my hours got cut to part time and am now working from home. I feel like she's getting bored and wants to be more active. I've looked on here for any mention of My Gym and all I've found was feedback on Little Gym, Tumble Bugs and Gymboree. Has anyone ever taken their LO to My Gym??

Thanks!

We've done The Little Gym and My Gym. We enjoyed both programs, but there are a few differences. We found Little Gym to be a bit more structured and there was more of a focus on learning/strengthening specific physical gymnastics skills. There was more variety with My Gym and they incorporated gross, fine, cognitive, and social skill development. At Little Gym the classes were divided by semester (i.e. fall, spring, etc.), but at My Gym you would pay for four weeks at a time. I would recommend both programs, but I would encourage you to go to a free "preview" class for each program so you can get a better feel for the differences and what you think will work best for you and your daughter.

They will let you try a class for free.

Took my daughter to the My Gym off of Parker and Independence(?) back in 2006 when she was about 5 months to 14 months old. I loved that time with her since it was a mommy and me class. We had so much fun together. It cost less than Little Gym and because of her age, we could go to as many classes as we wanted per week as well as the open gym times. I felt like I got more for my money than I would have at the other places. Don't know what has changed since then. I know we also got a free enrollment somehow, so check in to that.
I see you live in Plano. You should look in to some of the city rec classes. We have been to a super tumbling class there as well as some others.

I've taken both my sons to My Gym in Plano since my oldest was about 15 months old. They have always loved it. We had put my older son in Little Gym before My Gym, but since there was more to do he liked it better. We also love the option of the open gym times for free play. This year my boys have done their camp and love that also.

We love My Gym. My daughter has been taking classes there for over 2 years and my son for 1. We like it because they get their own class, but there is also the Free Play once a week where they can play together. We also had my DD's 4 yr b-day party there last year and everyone had a great time. We go to the one in Frisco at Legacy/Lebanon.

Hi H.,
I teach Kindermusik, which is a child development program that uses music and movement as the medium to teach. I tell you that b/c while its not a 'gym' type program, we do A LOT of movement. Children learn best when they move so we are always up and down either dancing, singing, playing with instruments, hula hoops, scarves, etc. I would love for you to come try a free class sometime if you're interested. If so, just email me back and I can tell you which location is closest to you and our class schedule. I hope you'll be able to join us and see why Kindermusik is the very best start for your little girl.

H.,
I started taking my daughter to My Gym to get out of the house when I was staying at home. After I started back to work we switched to a Saturday class. She is now 3 1/2 and many of the kids she started out with 2 years ago still go to her same class. My only experience has been with the location near Parker and Independence. It's not really fancy but my daughter loves it and the staff is great.
