Is there anyone out there who can recommend a place to take my son, who will be turning 2 next month, to get his first haircut? I'm kind of nervous becuae he's my first and only boy, and I will be getting his photos taken this month and he really needs a trim! Where do you suggest? Preferribly in Bolingbrook or near the Fox Valley Mall...

What can I do next?

For his first haircut, we took my son to Cookie Cutters (near 7th and Woodward avenue, but they have several other locations). We did the first haircut special that gives the certificate, picture, and a lock of his hair in a little bag (I think it was $22.00). I've also taken my son to Sports Clips off of Hobson Rd. since that first haircut and they did a really nice job.

I like Cookie Cutters- they are at 95th and Rte 59 in Naperville. I believe they have several other locations too. They specialize in cuts for little ones, and they deal well with the unhappy tot.

We take our son to Stew's Barbershop on Ogden & Long Grove Dr in Aurora(near the mall). My son loves it there and they do this whole thing where they take their picture and give them a certificate for the first hair cut. If you are lucky the owner(Dave) cuts their hair. I took my son at one year for his first hair cut, I am so jealous!

Try Cookie Cutters - they are off Rt. 59 near 95th Street in Naperville. Lots of fun for the kids - they get to sit in a car, motorcycle, etc and watch TV while they get their hair cut. They do a good job, too.

Hi W.,

Like everyone said the Cookie Cutters at 59 and 95 is awesome. Ask for Tracy, she is fantastic with boys hair cuts and is really patient. She has been cutting my son's hair since he was 10 months old and needed his first cut.

Boozle B's is a really neat place. They have cars, motorcycles, and a scooter your son can sit it while he gets his cut. They also have a TV with a DVD player at each station. It's on 127th and 59 in the same shopping center at Kohls. Both my boys love it there.

I took my daughter to Cookie Cutters on Rt 59 in Plainfield. It's right next to Giordano's. They are geared towards children. The kids can pick out their own seat which is either a car or train and they can pick out a video to watch while they get their haircut. My daugther loves it there! Plus they have a "1st haircut" package where they save a locket of hair and take a haircut picture with a certificate showing it's their first haircut.
