Need a Diaper Brand Recommendation for Size 3 - Beaverton,OR

Hi Moms,

I need a recommendation for good brand of disposable diapers in size 3. We currently use the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive and wish they came in size 3. Here are the features I like about the Swaddlers:
- Super soft material
- Non scented (so I can smell when baby has pooped)
- Wetness strip (so I can see when baby has peed)

I prefer to move out of the Pampers brand because Pampers Cruisers are known to give my son a rash. I do use Huggies for an older child but their materials are pretty stiff and I would like to avoid the stiff material on a new baby.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. Great News, I learned that Pampers will be releasing the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitives in size 3 & 4 available later this month in stores. They will not have the wetness strip but I am just happy they will have this great diaper up till size 4 that the strip is a minor detail ;o)

I have tried lots of diapers and haven't found any that are as soft as the Pampers Swaddlers - so you may be out of luck on that one. I also haven't seen any others with the wetness strip. Since you mentioned that you want them to be unscented, definitely avoid Luvs (they have the strongest scent of any I have tried).

I'll second the other poster who recommended the Kirkland brand from Costco - they work great for us and very rarely leak. We have also used the generic brand from Sams Club and liked those too (might be a bit softer as well). I found the Target Up & Up diapers to be just OK - pretty good on containing leaks but pretty bulky when they get wet and the stiffest of the bunch. I do like Luvs, aside from the scent I mentioned above.

I didn't care for the cruisers either, for the same reason. I did find that I really like the Pampers Baby Dry, no problems, and not too bulky - don't care for Huggies either. Good luck!

Honestly, the diapers that I use have two out of three features that you really like... They are super-soft against baby's skin and have no perfumes. They are also ecologically safe, don't cause pollution in landfills, are easy to use, and have drastically cut down on rashes and blow-outs with my kids.

The only down side is that they are rather expensive to start with. However, the initial expense is the -last- expense that you would have.

I am, of course, talking about cloth diapers. We use pocket diapers and all-in-ones. The pocket diapers are perfectly fine, though my hubby prefers the all-in-ones because he doesn't have to touch anything. Just off with the dirty diaper, stuff it in the diaper bag, and put the clean one on.

Cloth diapers have come a -long- way since the old days of folding and pinning. Check for cloth diaper stores in your area or order online.

I mostly use cloth, but I use disposibles for traveling and for the babysitter. We liked the pampers swaddlers too. My kiddo is now in size 4, but for size 3 and 4 we have used target brand diapers after they were recommended by a friend. Although I use them rarely (we have used less than 4 boxes of diapers in my child's whole life), I like that they are really soft and fragrance free. They don't have the strip to help you see when your child has wet the diaper, but super soft. I am really sensitive the fragrances, but have not had any issues with the target brand. We also haven't seen any leaking even though my child is crawling, climbing, and cruising. Some of these other ladies with more disposible diapering experience may have some better recomendations, but we have been happy with the target brand diapers for our limited needs.

I absolutely love seventh generation diapers & pull ups. They are pretty hypoallergenic & don't cost much more than regular brands. They are also unbleached which is better on baby's skin & for the environment. Find them at natural food stores or in the health food section at Fred Meyers.

I loved the swaddlers too and that pee strip was awesome. We tried the cruisers but we also got a rash so I tried the Pampers Baby Dry. I found them to be better than the cruisers. Pretty much no leaks or blowouts. They contain it all and no rash! They do smell like baby powder but you can still smell that poop!

I had the exact same issue. I tried everything and had either massive blowouts, or constant rash, or generally both. my ped recommended seventh generation and i am very happy with them. They look brown and very plain, but baby is rash free, well except a recent reaction to a new food. They are not as soft as the swaddlers were, but the best fit overall

I had the same problems with my little ones. I loved, loved, LOVED the Pampers Swaddlers for my preemies, and then when we got into size 3s, I never found anything that I was as satisfied with as the Swaddlers. We tried just about every brand out there and almost all of them gave my son a rash after only 2 or 3 diapers. My daughter never had any problems, so I would just put her in whatever ones we bought that my son couldn't use, so at least I wasn't buying a whole pack just to throw them away after using only 3. The ones that we finally did end up with were the Luvs brand. They were great for holding everything in and I almost never had to do extra laundry because of leaks. Out of all the ones we tried besides Swaddlers, these seemed to be the softest. If that is one of your main concerns, then definitely stay away from Costco because when their diapers are in flight between the warehouse and the store, the air pressure pretty much vacuum seals the plastic, and they seem so stiff after that. Luvs don't have the pee strip, but it really isn't hard to tell when your child pees, and I don't think they come in unscented, but again, by this stage in his life, you should know when you smell poop. If I hadn't known how great the Swaddlers were, I would have thought that Luvs was the greatest brand out there.

Both my daughters had sensative skin and would have rashes with several diapers that I tried. To my surprise the best diaper that I found cost wise that works the best for us anyways was the Safeway brand diapers. Now my girls are older and I stick with the Safeway brand pull ups for night time. My daughters have never gotten a rash from these and don't seem to complaing about any stiffness or anything. Just a thought :)

We also used the Swaddlers for my oldest until size 3. Then we switched to the Costco brand ones. They were great until we simply switched to cloth diapers.
