Hi mamas...I have always wanted to do a colonic cleanse, or some other cleanse diet, but have never had the right time to do it -- either my work or family responsibsilities would be too much or something else would come up and get in the way. But next week I will have three days off work (and the girls will be at school during the days), and then a three day weekend after that so I think the time is right. I am leaning towards doing the master cleanse/lemonade diet for 2 or 3 days depending on how it goes but would love to hear from others about that cleanse or others that they have loved, hated, found too hard to manage, etc...any feed back would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! M

So What Happened?

Well I have to admit that I was disappointed in most of the responses that I recieved that seemed to push a pill or product as a way to cleanse. I decided to go with my inital plan and did the master cleanse/lemonade diet and it was AWESOME!!! I had everything I needed right in my house (lemons, water, maple syrup and caynne pepper) and did not have to buy anything (except more lemons). I committed to do two days but felt so good I did it for three days. The first day was hard (I had a headache almost all day, I think from not drinking any coffee) but surprisingly I was not hungry and felt great. Of course I was not working and was able to take it easy during the time I fasted, but I am so glad I did it. If you ever want to do this fast I highly recommend it and if you have any questyions about it feel free to contact me. M

There is a book called the master cleanser. It is a very small yellow book-so small there is not really a spine. They carry it at Barnes and Noble in the nutrition section. Anyhow in all my years there we sold those like crazy and people swear by it. I have never used it myself, but it is very very popular and I have heard it works great.

Hi M....
I happened to recently become a cleanse coach with a product called, Isagenix. It is not one of those "colon cleanses". Isagenix is a perfect nutritionaly dense food. I have lost 17 lbs and 36.35 inches in 30 days. It is safe with no stimulants,no drugs, no ephedra. The benefits include more energy, better rest, fat burning, increased stamina, etc. Take a look at:

Hi!
I recommend checking out the colon cleanse by Dr. Schultze at www.herbdoc.com. I have done all his cleanses and use the Formula 1 daily just to support keeping things "regular". The liver and kidney cleanses are also fabulous. Just by visiting his web site you'll gain even more knowledge to the importance of healthy bowls.
About me: I'm 36 with no kids just yet. I currently work full time in personal growth and development and also run an Arbonne business while working on my Masters in Holistic Nutrition.
Feel good with your cleanse!!!!!

I have purchased package cleanses and done them in the past (Renewal & enzymatic brands) and the best short term cleanse I ever did did not come in a box. A few years back I did a watermelon cleanse. I froze some watermelon to make slushies for a change of pace and then had fresh watermelon in the fridge. I supplemented the watermelon with plenty of water, lemon juice, borage oil and psillium (spelling?). The three days flew by, I still had energy and I wasn't obsessed with following the instructions of a boxed plan. I am a busy mom of four children and this was the most effective cleanse I have ever done. Now you have me thinking about doing it again. Watermelon is in season! Good luck

Hi M.,
Congratulations on getting 3 days off!
My name is M. & I'm an Ayurvedic health practitioner in San Francisco. I have a great 3 day ayurvedic cleanse to recommend that still allows you to eat. I've had many clients use this cleanse and have done it myself as well.
It's basically a monodiet of a food called Kitchari which is mung beans and rice. The two of these combined make a complete protein and with the addition of some yummy spices and veges, it is one of the most easy foods to digest. Eating this for breakfast, lunch and dinner (along w/ a couple of other easy practices) gives your entire digestive system a kind of reboot. Please let me know if your interested and I can give you more details.
My practice is in San Francisco and my website is www.solacehealth.com. Please feel free to contact me at ____@____.com,
M.

You can check resources on www.healthyhealing.com, a site by a naturopathic dr. There are a lot of options, and I have loved using this resource repeatedly over the years.

I did some intensive cleansing last year when I had some unexpected skin problems; my experience told me that despite what "Web MD" says about not needing to do colon cleansing, I did need it, and it actually cleared up my skin problems quickly and I felt better than I ever have in my life, digestive-wise. I did some dietary cleansing first, using fresh fruit & vegetable juices every day for 30 days, just in addition to my regular diet (which is pretty healthy, but not perfect). I found that I didn't need to eat as much. The juices gave me lots of energy! Then for the next month I did a series of colonics, one a week for 4 weeks. My colonic therapist encouraged me to eat raw foods/very lightly for 1-3 days prior to the treatment, which really helped to make for a productive session. Having colonics & doing intestinal cleansing helped clear up some chronic low-level health problems I had for years, which was unexpected, and thrilled me. (email me if you want details) Then for another month I used a colon cleanse product, a fiber supplement in the morning, with herbal capsules, and a senna-based tea at night to help w/elimination in the morning. The product is called "colonix" from Dr. Natura. I have never felt better, lighter, and my skin has never looked better. Doing that major cleanse over a year ago has effected a lasting change in my digestive system & overall health--greatly improved.

I would recommend that if you feel you would like to try intestinal cleansing, you just go for it, & you be the judge of whether it works for you. I have done a lot of research on it, and apparently it can be controversial...but results speak for themselves.

Another website to check out is www.wellnessoflife.com, the site from the colonic therapist I used. It gives you a lot of info about your anatomy & why you might even consider doing intestinal cleansing, even if you aren't interested in doing a colonic irrigation.

Hope this helps give you an "alternative" view to the posts you have already received.

HI,

I just finished last week wit an cleanse from Arbonne. I loved it. You take the drink for 7 days though, vs. the 2-3 days you were talking about. I think if you started it the day before the three day weekend, it would be perfect. The 2nd and 3rd day are the toughest, but nothing bad at all. I have used it twice already.

I can share more details with you if you want.

Thanks,
R.

Dear M.,
the most important and hardest thing about a cleanse is ending it properly. please be aware that once it is over, you will probably go on a food binge and ravenous impulses will take over. plan for this now. you may want to start with vegetables: radishes, celery or fruits. make a hearty vegetable (+-whole grain) stew that will fill you without ruining the cleansing. avoid flour / potato / sugar products as much as possible. equal to the days of the cleanse.
plain kefir "cultured, enzyme-rich food filled with friendly micro-organisms that help balance your "inner ecosystem." More nutritious and therapeutic than yogurt, it supplies complete protein, essential minerals, and valuable B vitamins" is excellent.
Best of luck!
M.

GO to www.jayrobb.com THis is the best cleansing diet ever. You lose weight quick and you are never hungry. I do this every week and love it! In a month a lost enough weight where everyone had noticed and said how good I looked. It is very easy. YOu can download the book and it gives you all the directions. It is 3 days and it is so easy. You feel so good after that all you want to do is eat healthy. This is alos an inexpensive diet and cleansing to do. The powder drink you can purchase on like last awhile. After the 3 day cleansing I will have the shake/drink for breakfast pretty much the rest of the week

I suggest going to the House of Nutrition in Willow Glen. I did the full body cleanse and drank a green tea juice mix. I felt like that was the best combination. I didn't have to alter my eating habits drastically(obviously I stayed away from fast food and greasy meals) and I felt like I did have more energy while on the cleanse.
Good luck!!

Hi,

I have done the lemonade cleanse and while it works, it really more productive when you do the whole 7-14 days. My husband has also done it several times but has found that when he tries the shorten time, he doesn't get the full affect. You will still get some of the cleansing, but not all.

Instead, try the salt water flush, that works fast and should help you during your time off.

Good luck.

I have done some research on colon cleansing as my friend was having constipation problems. Web MD says that you should not use colon cleansers as they can actually cause you to have problems with your colon. Web MD basically says that your colon works fine on it's own and you should just leave it alone.

Please don't do that. It's really not healthy. My advice get a great massage, mani, pedi, and/or a facial. You'll feel and look great with no danger to your health.

I have also heard that colonics are not good for you. I did try a fast though that I think does what you are looking for. I just ate raw fruits and vegetables for 2 days and drank water. You definitely feel cleansed after. I would actually like to try that for longer but that was all I could manage at the time.

I'm into doing almost everything natural, but I wouldn't go acidic. Acids do clean out our pipes, including our clogged arteries. But, too much acids have been linked to cancer (i.e. acid burning our internal linings doesn't sound pretty either). I would try to maintain a balanced pH level.

Even if I have have some really caked on gunk from eating sticky stuff like peanut butter, etc..., I'd go for a raw food diet cleanse containing a lot of fiber...all naturale.
