MY Husband and I have been looking for a Church for a while we thought we found a nice small one here in town but we are the only ones there expecting and there are no babies only older kids. Also we are looking for a tradidional chuch,an Organ or Piano, the hyms we grew up with and preferably and "Sunday best" dress code. Our old chuch (back in CA) was Presbyterian, UCC and United Methodist rolled into one and we loved it there but any religion that is basic "Christian" will work for us. We prefer smaller churches which are hard to come by in Texas but we do want a church with young children & babies so we can raise our son with others his age. Any suggestions are welcome - THANKS!

What can I do next?

Messiah Lutheran on Whitley Road in Keller is a very traditional, consvervative congregation that also has a very good school for kids starting at age 2 and continuing through elementary school and high school -- so LOTS of kids. Services are at 8:00 and 10:45 every Sunday, with Sunday School at 9:45.

Hi. The only thing our church is not, is small. We go to First Baptist Church Keller, just off Keller Parkway. We have tons of babies! Our preschool classes are broken down very well, so there are not too many children in one class. Right now we are doing some construction, so we are having service in the gym instead of the sanctuary. My Sunday School department currently has around 10 expecting mothers including me!

I attend First United Methodist church of Hurst, and we have several families that live in the Keller area. It may be a little drive, but we have an excellent children's ministries as well as adult Sunday School classes for you and your husband- where you can meet other young parents as yourselves. Our minister is very traditional when it comes to our worship service and our organ player just was awarded the best organ player in the world. Also, we have a mom's group Caring Christian Mothers, which meets once a month and provides help and bonding with new moms. Please check us out: it sounds like it would be a perfect fit for you. It isn't very small, but you would be surprised how homey it feels... www.fumchurst.org for times and directions.

Hi M., I go to Christian Faith Fellowship and we are just nirth of Keller on 377 in Roanoke. We are a smaller church but growing and if you are looking for babies we've just had a boom. We have had 8 in the last 2 1/2 year. Anywhere from 1 month old to 2 1/2. You'd think it had been winter and we've all had cabin fever. Anyway, I serve in the nursery and I used to be nursery coordinator but I just handed that off to another mom because I am now our youth minister. We have an awesome nursey, very safe, filled with babies and caregivers who love to be in with the babies. You can check us out at www.cffchurch.com and if you decide to visit send me an email so I can meet you! - BLESSINGS to you in your search for where God would have you make you church home!

I have two for you to try - Bear Creek Bible Church is a medium-sized church; not a "sunday best" one though, nor does it have a choir. However, they do have lots of kids, a great nursery staff, and a loving, open congregation. (obviously I liked this one - lol!)

Second is first united methodist on Johnson road. That's wehre we're going now. They do have a traditional service that is more formal. We go to the contemporary service as my husband prefers that one. it is a large congregation and they have a hearty youth program, but there are only a couple babies in the nursery at the 9:30 service. My son is 7 months and a lot of times, he's the only one.

Good luck-I know how hard it is to find the right church home.

We moved here 2 yrs ago from MO from a Methodist Church and found Gateway Church in Southlake (on 1709). We didn't even visit another church- our kids love it and the girls (twins) have been there since they were 1. They come home with Jesus in their heart every week! I can not tell you how much we love the people and the worship every week! Pastor Robert Morris is incredible! Go to www.gatewaypeople.com and see for yourself. I know God led us to Gateway (through friends) and has blessed us in an unbelievable way! P.S. they now have a campus in NRH on Davis and Starnes, too.
Many blessings,

I know that you said you wanted a small church; however we attend Fellowship Church (fellowshipchurch.com) and it is a large church - we have home teams that come together for dinner, bible study and fellowship on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month and you really feel like you belong and I am sure that you could get in a group of young married people with babies. THIS WAY YOU REALLY FEEL CONNECTED. If you call me I will put you in touch with staff that will support you and your family. J. Blackmon ###-###-####

I pray that God will lead you and help you find the church He wants you to become a part of.

Please look into Alliance United Methodist Church. It's located on Park Vista Bvd. between N. Tarrant and Basswood. It's a "neighborhood church" in that it is not as large as many of the other churches in the area, but we have members from Keller,Azle, Saginaw and lots of other cities. We average about 325 over 3 worship services. The 8:30 and 11 are traditional; the 9:45 is contemporary. The dress code I would call "flexible". Some dress up and some are casual. Lots of kids from babies to teens. We are gearing up to start a Mother's Day out program in the near future so that may be something you'd like to keep in mind. Their website is www.allianceumc.net

M.,

I highly recommend our church, Wellspring Church in NRH. We live just south of Keller and its only 15 minutes to get there. It has alot of traditional feel to it. Instead of organ/piano, there's a praise band but they do a mix of hymns and contemporary worship songs. The anointing on the worship is INCREDIBLE!

Our pastor used to be a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary. He is a great preacher/teacher! And yet he's not stuffy and snobby. He's very transparent and is leading our church into a very loving atmosphere.

I keep the nursery and sometimes we have 7 babies in there! And my three kids enjoy the children's program for school-age children.

I hope you will come check us out! We love visitors!

Blessings,
A.

This church may not match your description fully but it is truly an amazing church. It is Northwood church - northwoodchurch.org . It is off Ruff Snow in Keller. It has lots of children and a wonderful cry room right off the sanctuary. I felt comfortable to go to church just a few weeks after my little one was born and was able to sit and even nurse in the cry room. It is focused on the community and also the world. Good luck on finding a good church -it is so important to feel like you have a 'home' and gives you a place to serve.

We go to the First United Methodist Church of Keller on Johnson Road, across the street from Keller High School. It is a big church but they have 2 traditional services with the old hymns at 8:15 and 11am and the contemporary service at 9:30. It is big and the dress is kind of casual which I know is not what you're looking for. BUT, it has lots of babies and a great kids program. Good luck!

First, I'd like to say that I am a "small church girl". I grew up in and loved being in a small church. That being said we are now going to Harvest Church on 377. It is a lot bigger than I would have picked but we decided to try it since it is near our home and we wanted there to be lots of kids and kid programs in the church. There are lots of kids and they do a ton of things for kids. Just next week we are having Children's Day where the kids (grades K-5 I believe) actually lead the music portion of church on Sunday morning. The kids younger than that are brought into the service by the teachers for a few songs too. After the service they are going to sell hotdog lunches for $2 and have kite flying, bounce houses and other things for the kids. I'd love to meet you if you'd like to come and want someone to sit with or just show you around. All this being said it is a bigger church and unless you get involved with an Adult Bible Fellowship class (we call it ABF but it is Sunday School) it is hard to feel apart of a church like this. Anyway, we'd love to have you. Our class meets at 9 or a little after since we almost all have children between the ages of like 8 months and 3rd grade and so we get them dropped off about nine and then get to our class. If you'd like to try it out let me know.

I good home church can be hard to find, so I feel your pain. We were on the hunt for 18 mo before we found Light of the World on Old Denton Road (just north of N Tarrant). We are a smaller church, maybe 350 members and we have lots of children. From babes up to High Schoolers. We love the small church atmosphere, but enjoy the fact that there is structure for the childrens programs. We have a great Pastor and staff. As part of the Praise Team, I can tell you we have a good time as well.

I second the recommendation for Fellowship of the Parks. They do have a great children's program on Sundays as well as a great preschool during the week. My oldest son went there 2 years (he's now in kindergarten) and now my second son is enrolled this year and again for next year. The messages are good and the music is fantastic. However, if you're wanting a smaller church, it may not be what you're looking for. We started there about 6 years ago, and it's gotten a little too big for us (now it's 4 services:). My husband and I are very shy and non-agressive when it comes to meeting people, so bigger churches are a bit uncomfortable for us. It's very easy to become invisible (if that makes any sense :).

M. I found this church newlife fellowship on 377 in Keller and I fell in love with it. It is non denominational and it is small and we have a wonderful childrens department and great nursery ladies. our service starts at 10:15a and you can come at 9:30a for a small snack before church. Pastor Brandon and his wife Terica are really nice. Unfortunately it is right next to the drive thru liquor store but don't let that discourage you come and see us and look me up I'm L..

Check out Argyle United Methodist Church. Lots of young couples as well as older folks. Our Pastor is about 35, has a 3 year old and a 6 month old. Our youth Minister has a 6 month old and our music has a 2 year old and is "expecting". We have a great childerns education leader.
You won't be impressed with our building at the moment but the people are wonderful. We will be moving into a new building that is on hwy 377 in about 3 or 4 months.
