Need Recommendation for a Pool Fence Company

Hi Moms, My 8 month old will be crawling any day now, and we need to get a pool fence up pronto. We have the automatic-closing sliding door that leads out to the backyard, but I also want to get a pool fence up. I have seen some fences that are the mesh type that can be taken down at a later time. Has anyone had good luck with a fence company that does the installation? I live in the Mesa/Gilbert area.

What can I do next?

Dear T.; About 10 years ago when our first grandchild was born we purchased a Baby Barrier (mesh) pool fence. It has been effective and isn't an eyesore. Benefits of this type of fencing are: low maintenance, durability and the ability to put gates in where ever necessary with no (or little) extra charge. Plus, you can totally remove the fence and re-install it whenever you want. The only downside is that the gates are not self closing. When my grandchildren come over my daughter-in-law does a pool gate check first thing. It's easy to see when the gate is open, however, whereas on self latching gates they sometimes look closed and locked when they're not, so you will always want to check. The BB latch takes some strength and dexterity to open and close, so no little ones can do it. We are expecting another grandchild soon and I'm sure the same pool fence will last another 10 years. I Googled Baby Barrier this morning and several sites came up. I think my installer was Baby Barrier of Arizona. Grandma D.

Please reconsider on the mesh fence and do the Katch-a-Kid pool net instead. Check out their website at www.katchakid.com. I remember the sales rep telling us that all it takes is one chair pulled up to the fence and the child will be on the other side. Plus you hear on the news of all the pool drownings that had a fence around the pool. That was all it took for my husband and me to change our minds on the fence and purchase the Katch-a-Kid pool net instead. Katch-a-Kid states that they have never had a drowning when the net was on the pool. I think this was about $100-$200 more than the fence but to us it was money well spent.

HI T.
We also had the Net from Katchakid, but we hated it. It was a huge problem to get it on and off, so it stayed off in the summer. We regretted not getting the fence instead. We live in a new home now and went with a company called Guardian. Their fence is 5' tall and even with a chair would be hard o get over. The prices were around $21 a foot and $350 for the gate.

We used Life Saver Pool Fence. They were great to deal with and the product is very sturdy. Had a friend who bought a net and said it took too long to put up and down so she ended up getting a safety fence too. Here is the website for Life Saver http://www.poolfence.com.

We used Baby Guard of Arizona to install a removable mesh fence around our pool. At our previous house, we had an iron fence and I prefer the look and the ease of the mesh fence a lot more. The people at baby Guard were fantastic and their work was great. I would highly recommend them. You can check out the website at www.babyguardfence.com. We used Bob Reider and his phone number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I can not for the life of me find the information from the company who did my pool fencing, but if you google "safety fences for pools" or something like that you will get a number of options. The company I chose was owned by a Phoenix firefighter and his wife and they were great. I had a couple estimates and they were the best and the work they did was fantastic.

Good luck.

We used Protect A Child pool fence company. They did a great job and gave a fair price. The owner also came out and fixed a problem two years later when we needed him to at no charge (a problem we created). Check out his web site www.protectachild.com

T.,

While you are waiting to get a fence installed, I would suggest at least getting a pool alarm. The one below floats in the water and sounds when the surface of the water is broken. It is under $200 with a remote or $150 without the remote option. It is a good safety measure to have even with a fence. We have a 6 foot iron fence and a lock on the gate, but my 3 year old can almost scale the bars already. It may at least give you some peace of mind in the interim. Best wishes!
