Milk has come in and, oh boy!
I receieved a pack of these gel pads called, Soothies, not the pacifier.
They got water on them and it broke down the material.
I need to find some new ones and don't have time to wait
for them to come in the mail. I live outside of Sacramento.
Anyone have an idea where to buy, or how to find them other
than online and delivered in the mail?
Is there another brand you use?
I tried the earthmama ones and they are too large, I need
to find some that are thin, gel like.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you , thank you , thank you. I found that Medela makes a pair now. Not as fabulous as Soothie brand but worked. I am going to Kaiser later today to buy some more
Soothie brand and have a consultant check out "our routine." It just takes one bad latch in the beginning to set off a chain reaction. I think the 4th day when my milk finally came in we were both so carried away with enthusiasm I was not watching just basking in the moment.

I had the same problem you are. I hurt so bad I could hardly stand it. I did use Soothies, too, and they worked pretty good for me. With my first child, I got them at Kaiser. I think they have a Lactation Department (there is a place where you can rent pumps and they will probably have the Soothies there). With my second child, I got them at Babies 'R' Us. I don't think they are all that expensive there but when you are hurting and need a little relief, you will probably pay anything.
Good Luck!! and I hope this helps.

I'm currently nursing my third and I know just what you are talking about! Even though they say it shouldn't hurt if the baby is latching well, for some moms it just does for a while. So while I do think it's a good idea to double check that the latch is good and that the baby is not at all tongue tied, sometimes it just takes some time. Thank goodness it gets so easy later!

But while you are waiting for your soothies to come, try cold compresses - keep a bottle of ice water and a cloth at hand while you are nursing and as soon as the baby unlatches, wet the cloth with some of the cold water and hold it on your breast for a couple of minutes. Be sure that you dry off very well before you close your bra so that you don't invite thrush.

Also if you need to, taking some tylenol is ok too.

Do you live above Sac? Do you know where Nugget Market is? They have this double cotton thing that is filled with Flax seed. You can warm it in the microwave or put it in the freezer. It works GREAT! And it is reusable! Just do not microwave it too long! Good Luck Girl.

Oh btw it is in their family health and wellness section. It is in the front of the store under the red light. They have TONS of homopathic items to help with your issue.

Feeling your pain!

www.soothies.com

I believe Motherhood Maternity sells them. I bought one pack there last year when I had my baby. I bought the rest new on ebay and saved a bunch of money. If no luck there try Goore's in Sacramento on Fulton and Marconi. Another idea is Maternal Expressions in Folsom. They have lactation consultants there so if they don't carry them i'd contact them and ask if they might know.

They do have some thin gel like ones made by Playtex they sell at Target and probably babie's r us. They aren't as good as the soothies but I just thought i'd mention it. Gerber also makes these hot/cold packs to help ease breastfeeding pain, especially if you are engorged. I know I got mine at Target.

Good luck :)
