Needing Makeup Help!

I hope this doesn't seem silly to you all. I'm hoping some of you ladies might have some suggestions for me. My guy is very adverse to lipstick. He doesn't mind the look of it, but claims to have an "allergy" to the smell. He has asked me not to put it on around him (not a problem). BUT he likes to kiss (sorry if TMI). I am looking for ideas or suggestions for a lipstick/balm that has a bit of color but is "light", fragrance free, etc. Lipstick is my best friend, and my lips blend into my face without it, also they tend to feel very dry. Does anyone have a lipstick/balm/chapstick that they love, that has a little color to it but isn't so thick, heavy, waxy, whatever that it puts my man off....? Thanks so much for any ideas!

What can I do next?

CoverGirl has a liquid lipstick (I think it may be called Outlast) that isn't remotely waxy and has no smell. It's like a really good lip stain, but lasts longer than a lip stain. I've tried a lot of more expensive brands, but this one really does last almost the entire day.

Tarte has some good lipstains. The brand Fresh has a couple tinted lip balms too. If you have a Sephora close to you, you can go try some out. If you don't their web site has really good descriptions and the product reviews are very helpful.

Burts Bees now has a tinted lip balm. I love it, and even more because it is all natural.

I like the Burts Bees tinted lip balm but it has a scent and it is tingly on your lips.
Clinique has some unscented tinted lip gloss. MY favorite is "black honey" but there are loads of colors. No smell at all.

I second Burts Bees. They have a tinted chap stick/lip gloss that is nice and they also came out with a lip stain recently and neither have a strong smell. (I think they run around $4-$6) You could use the lip stain with a regular chapstick or gloss over it.

Good luck!

Mary Kay has a tinted lip balm. There are some nice colors and it doesn't small or dry out your lips like lipstick can. Good Luck!

I use Revlon Color Stay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick - the one in the tube. Put it on, wait 5 minutes and kiss away. This stuff won't come off until you use eye makeup remover on it. It's fabulous. And has no smell. I like Iconic Iris. Great color for all skin types.

There is also a Revlon Color Stay in a tube with a gloss (double ended). Those work nice, too.

Just don't bother with the Color Stay regular lip stick - they don't have much staying power and will come off.

Arbonne has lipstick and lip gloss both. Since everything is made with natural ingredients there isn't strong smelly smells as I call them only natural scents. If you would like information on prices or how to purchase please contact me via the email address I am giving you in a private message. PS they last a really long time.

I would make my own tinted balm (I've done this a lot). I find a nice, pigment intense lipstick in a color I like and an lip balm in a tube or a pot that I like. You should find a balm that is unscented or low-scent. If the lip balm is solid and in a tube, push it all the way up and take it out of the tube. If it is in a tub, just gouge it out. Melt the balm in the microwave (very carefully, checking often) or over hot water. Gouge out a blob of your lip color--not too much because you don't want the scent to be overwhelming. Then swirl the lipstick into the lip balm until everything is melted and well mixed. Then pour the lip balm mixture back into its original tube (make sure you twist it all the way down again before you do that) or tub. Let it sit upright until it hardens. It will harden into a normal, but now tinted, tube of balm in a color you like. Otherwise, I'd try lip stain and balm over it. :)

Softlips Tinted is lip balm with a little shimmer.

You can try applying lipliner in a wine or chocolate color and blending inward toward the center of lips, then apply shiny unscented lipbalm. That will give longlasting definition to your lips without adding a flavor or smell.

Skip the grocery store and visit a local food co-op...you'll find lots of choices. You might also look at this database that catalogues health and beauty products:

I'm with your boyfriend on this one--I hate the smell of cosmetics!

No fragrance. That is what makes him feel sick. I use Sante. It is a lipgloss stick and a lipstick on a pencil. It is animal free and not tested on animals as well.
I do not know if it is distributed in the USA but you can look it up. I buy mine at the health food stores in Europe when I go teach there. The English on the tube is spelled the American way so I assume it does sell in the States.
Found it on Google...Chico, California distributer.
