Needing to Find a Rental Home in Saginaw

My husband and I are looking to rent a house in the Saginaw area. I have been driving around looking for rental homes for the last month but am only finding homes for rent through property management companies. My problem is that our credit is not very good and I was hoping to find an individual that is renting their home that may be able to look past our credit issues and base their decision on our rental history instead.

We are interested in finding a 3-4 bedroom home and paying no more than $1200 a month.

I know this is a strange request but I am hoping that we can find someone who is wanting to rent their house for a year starting in June to a family that will take great care of their property until we are ready to buy a home of our own.

What can I do next?

I live in Saginaw and there are MANY homes that have signs in their yards. People are needing to move (transitional area) but can't until they have their house sold/rented.

We have a 4 bedroom (built in 2002) that the mortgage is just over 1200, so we can't rent it for any less than 1250-1300 (to cover possible damage costs/ARM rate possibly going up).

Just my 2 cents.

My daughter is renting from a property management company in that area now and she also has credit issue so don't give up on them. Some of them are willing to work with you so don't give up on that. You might give them a call and see if they are willing to work with you. She has a nice 3 bedroom in that very same area that was only a year old for less 1200 a month. They are also helping her and her husband rebuild her credit so they can buy a house. She too only had a rental history with a lot of bad credit and is now in a very nice house. Good luck with you search.

Try www.Rent.com. Not all of them are management companies. Also, tell anyone and everyone you meet what you are looking for. Everyone knows someone with rental properties. Good luck!

Hang in there. I have 2 homes available in Ft. Worth in that price range and we usually place a sign in the yard and sometimes list in the paper. Mostly a sign in the yard. Ride around in the neighborhood that you want to move in and you might find a sign. We tend to look mainly at rental history and employment. Someone will give you a chance. Stay positive.

We are in the same situation! I've looked in the Star Telegram (mostly online at their website) and found a lot of homes for rent. Don't look on Craigslist.com. I responded to several posts on there, and they either responded by telling me to go to another website where I had to pay to view the property, or people who live in Africa wanting to rent their homes who want the deposit upfront. Both of these are scams. After several responses like these, I decided that craigslist is good for some things, but not rentong a home. And most websites you can look at to rent are like you said, property management companies. I've found the paper is the best way to rent from actual people and not companies or scam artists. Hope you find someplace soon!

OK, it's not in Saginaw, but I have a contact for you if nothing in Saginaw pans out. Some friends of ours in SW Fort Worth are moving in middle of July because he is in the military and is being transferred for two years. They don't want to sell their home because they know they're coming back, so are in the process of getting it on the market to be rented. The price and size fits your criteria (4 bedroom), and if you have a good rental history, they may be willing to look past credit. Contact me if you want more information; other than the location it might be a good fit, just don't know how make or break the location is for you.

Just because there is a management company sign out front does not mean they will be managing the property. I have rental property and I use a management company just to get it rented out. Then I do everything else. I have the say so in credit issues.

If your husband works in Weatherford, then I am not sure why you would choose Saginaw as an alternative. You would be better positioned in Aledo, Benbrook or Southwest Fort Worth. In fact there are quite a few signs around Southwest Fort Worth. The rent rates are in your range.

I will have an opening soon for a 3-2-2 (1500 sq ft) for $1000.

With your credit issues, perhaps you can't afford the luxury of being so choosy. There were dozens of offerings on Craigslist, but there is no way to tell which are legitimate and which are scams. I would think you'd find it common sense not to have to pay to browse listings, and wouldn't pay a deposit until a contract was signed. I do not think every Craigslist offer is a scam. The paper was a good idea, but there wouldn't be scams in there too? Just use common sense.
