I am trying to buy a house. I never thought I'd be able to do it alone, but I am. My question is does anyone know anything about Municipal Elementary in Roy. If the sale goes thru that is the school my little boy will go to and I know nothing about it. Please help if you have any information about the school or tha neighborhood.

What can I do next?

I actually grew up in that neighborhood and went to Municipal Elementary. I am 25 now, but lived there with my parents and brother and sister from when I was 10 until I was 19. It was one of the safest, nicest, quietest neighborhoods around. The people have all lived there for a really long time and plan on being there a really long time and everyone knows everyone. As for the school, I am sure it has changed quite a bit since I was there, but I loved all of my teachers and it was a great environment. It was small, but I understand they have since added on to it. Good luck! I am sure you will love it there! I consider that neighborhood my childhood.

I also live in Roy and I have heard good and bad about Municipal Elem. I spent nearly an hour talking to a lady in the library who said all her kids have gone and go there and she loves it. She did tell me that it is a diverse enviornment and sometimes difficult to get parental envolment.

This I can tell you. Municipal is getting a new Principal. His name is Mr. Fredrickson. He left our school and most of us were sick about it. He is very good and we were sorry to see him go. Hopefully this helps.

My kids don't actually attend there, but my daughter used to attend girl scouts there. The school building seemed to be ok.

I found a website a while back that had information like performance on standardized tests, racial breakdown of the students, child to teacher ratio, and percentage of students on free and reduced lunch. That website is http://www.greatschools.net .

Anyway, it's not as good as talking to someone whose child actually goes there, but I thought I'd throw the link out there for you to check out.
