Montessori Episcopal School on Old Orchard in Lewisville. We live in Highland Village and it's only 4 miles. My daughter is there for Kindergarten this year and it is awesome. They have traditional mixed age classes for 3-6 but also a separate kindergarten and a kinder/1st grade. Small, supportive, wonderful academics and specials.

Check out Primrose School of Highland Village. It is an awesome school!! I used to work there and my 1 year old son was in their infant program since he was 9 weeks. The owner and director are great! The curriculum is wonderful and they aren't too expensive. Please check them out if you haven't already found a place. They are located on Highland Village rd off 407.

Both of my sons attended Lamb of God Lutheran Preschool and we loved it! They also have a pre-kindergarten class if you feel your son is too young to start kindergarten at 5 in the Fall. Both my sons were born in July and began kindergarten at 6 after attending LOG.

The church address is 1401 Cross Timbers road in Flower Mound

Ask for Linda Braun or Sue Stewart and they can give you a tour or answer any questions you have.

Also, Greater Lewisville Soccer Assoc. is a great group or I have heard good things about the soccer program at the YMCA in Flower Mound

Good Luck!

www.MomCheck.com is a group of local moms who check out day cares, pre-schools, etc.

www.BurbMom.net is a website for that area that covers all sorts of stuff and there is an online social network that you could ask questions about specifics if you don't find what you are looking for in the articles.

www.familyeguide.com is a great place to find out local events and activities.

Welcome! It is a great place to raise kids...so much to do.

My church, Trietsch Methodist in Flower Mound (next to Marcus HS) has a very popular Upward Soccer (Spring) and Football (Fall) program for kids your son's age. The Soccer registration deadline was yesterday according to the website but you might still be able to squeeze in!http://www.tmumc.org/ministries_sports_upward.htm

Our kids went to CCDC (First United Methodist LV) and loved it. They've been around for over 20 years and are well known in the area. They're also very affordable and an easy drive down Valley Ridge to Summit.
I would also suggest looking at www.familyeguide.com. If you go to the "archives" page and look at the special issues, you'll find one on Chilren's Day Out/Preschool Programs.
Also, all of the newsletters feature a "sports" page, which includes contact information for all of the area leagues for various sports.
Good Luck!

S.,
Welcome to Highland Village. I have lived here for 12 years.
Do you know which elementary school you are zoned for? Soccer and baseball have already started for the Spring. I am not sure about when football or basketball start. Contact the YMCA, and H.V. usually puts signs out for upcoming events. Do you need pre-school for another child or the one who will go to school in the Fall? I am not sure which of the pre-schools have summer programs, again contact the YMCA.
Not sure if I helped any....:)

Lewisville Christian School at Main and Garden Ridge in Lewisville. Both my kids went there and loved it. It has been around for 30 years and may already be full for next year because there is usually a wait list but it would be worth a call.

We are at Castle Mound Montessori in Flower Mound and really love it there. I have a 4 1/2 year old who will probably attend K there as well. We did go to Children's Courtyard of Wellington and it was terrible. I do not recomend that one. I have heard good things about Cornerstone off of 2499 as well. Good luck!

Welcome to the neighborhood! We love living here. It is great for our kids! Our daughter goes to Lamb of God Preschool. She loves it! They do a great job and is reasonably priced too. They also have kindergarten and Jr Kindergarten. I believe there are still some spots available for preschool right now so your son could enroll for this academic year and the next one. Call Linda Braun at ###-###-####. You can also check their website at www.log.org. God bless!

Welcome to the area. I would check out Lakeland Christian Academy in Lewisville. They have a great preschool / kindergarten program. Our daughter attended for a year, and we loved it. We will be sending our son there next year. Coram Deo Academy also has a great program you might want to check out if you are interested in a classical education. It is a collaborative school (1/2 time at school 1/2 time at home).

GLASA is the local soccer leagure. There are also a few sports offered through Upwards. I know there are others...those are just the two I can think of. I think the library in Flower Mound will be hosting a showcase of summer activities soon if you want to see what camps / activities are available in the area.

We live in Lantana and send our (almost 3 yr-old) son to North Star Academy. It opened in 2006 and has doubled in size since then. The owners - Aaron & Kristi Jones are very personable and the teachers there are awesome! My son loves it there. Their tuition rates are competitive with Primrose. The only catch is that there may be a waiting list. Good luck!

Hi there,
Welcome to the area!
I am the Director at Reading Friends...Reading Friends is an academic preschool/kindergarten. We are located at 1439 Moccassin Trail on the north side of Lewisville, so we are very close to Highland Village.
The core of our curriculum is Language/Phonics...we feel if a child can read, they can do anything...and with our approach, the majority of them begin reading in their prek year (4 turning 5 years old.) At parent request, we offered Kindergarten this year! The teacher to student ratio is 12:1, so the children receive the attention necessary at that age. In addition to Language/Phonics, our curriculum consists of Handwriting, Math, Creative Art, Spanish, Gross Motor, Indoor and Outdoor Play and Discovery Sciences. We also have plans to convert our playground into a Nature Explore classroom this spring/early summer! Depending on your child's age, both our Prek and Kinder classes meet M-F from 9-1...we also have some fun summer camps in June/July.
Also, we just received the award of "Best Private School" in November...voted on by the readers of a local newspaper, The News Connection. It is nice to be recognized by the community :-)
If you are interested, please give me a call...I can be reached at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Thanks,
M.
