Hi, I'm trying to research pediatricians in my area (Downers Grove/Darien/Woodridge, Illinois). We are adopting and I would like to find one prior to the adoption that is willing to assist with questions that may need immediate attention in the event that we get a match and have questions about any medical test results, etc. Does anyone have recommendations?

What can I do next?

Loyola primary care in Darien is great! We see Dr. Keith Veselik...we've also seen Dr. Renner. She is awesome! CONGRATS on the upcoming adoption!

While I don't have any experience with adoption, we also go to DuPage Pediatrics and I highly recommend them. My kids see Dr. Gardner, but I like almost all of the doctors there. I had a not so great experience with Dr. Huang, but one of my good friends brings her daughter to her and has nothing but good to say about her. Dr. Lynch doesn't have the best bedside manner with kids, but I will see him if he's the only one availabe.

Good luck!

No recommendations for the area you mentioned, but while waiting to go get our son (international adoption) we interviewed pediatricians, just like we would have with a birth child. You can ask about their willingness to answer questions prior to the baby being placed with you. (We were using an international adoption physician, so we did not need our pediatrician to help in that area...until our son came home.)

As an aside...I decided not to be be offended when the pediatrician walked in to the office and asked "how far along are you?." (It was winter and I was still wearing bulky coat.) I think she was more embarrassed than I was!

Hi!
I use DuPage Pediatrics on Plainfield Rd. in Darien. Dr. Hall is our main pediatrician, but I really like them all! Everyone there is super friendly and I have never had a problem getting in when my kids become sick. I found them from a recommendation on here and they have been great!

Our pediatrician, Dr Marie Philobos, is wonderful. We also adopted a baby 6 years ago and Dr. Philobos has been great with her and us through everything. She is on the corner of Lemont and Plainfield Rd in Darien and we love her and so does Isabela. Her number is 630/985-5700. Call her and explain your situation. I'm sure she will be glad to help you in any way she can. Good luck.

I can't remember the name of the Dr. who also adopted from China. From what I used to remember the Dr. was in Schaumburg area. We just took our daughter to the Dr. that our son has been seeing. I can see the difference in a Dr. who has knowledge of international adoptions.

All the best with your new addition.
