Hey moms, looking for my next great read. Any suggestions? I've read all the Twilight Saga, all the Hunger Games & just finished The Help. What was your last great one?

I love those books... so we have similar tastes.. so these are going to be my suggestions for that particular genre.

The Eaglekins series by Clover Autrey, (she is a good friend!)
Upon Eagles Light (book 1)
Chase the Wind (book 2)
Fallen Warrior (free ebook)

(Clover just wrote a book called Sea Born, and Demon Trackers under her pen name CC James can't wait to read it!)

by Kristen Wright
Paranormalcy (book 1)
Supernaturally (book 2)

Second Death (ebook by my friend, Emily Reese)

The Host by Stephenie Meyers not part of the Twi saga)

I like a lot of pre-teen/teen books too, like The Book of Umber series, The Tapestry series, The Book Thief....

Have heard good things about Water for Elephants. If you like Twilight, be sure to read the Midnight Sun manuscript (online) and The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.

I just read Shanghai Girls, by Lisa See, YESTERDAY! I had started it once, and just read the first few chapters. Yesterday, I couldn't put it down and finished it.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Series by Stieg Larsson.

Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Ken Follett

The Women by TC Boyle and Loving Frank are both about Frank Lloyd Wright.

Life List by Olivia Gentile, surprisingly good book about a woman on a mission to see every bird species. I know, sounds boring, but I enjoyed it.

The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister

Blue Tattoo by Margo Mifflin

A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick

I love the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris.

My very favorite book of all time is The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It was first, but a prequel and two sequels exist as well.

She also wrote The Firebrand, which is another favorite.

And there's always Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.

Mists, Firebrand and Les Mis are all very long, thick novels that will engage you for a good while. I read very quickly and can always count on a couple of weeks from each of these.

The Lincoln Lawyer. Really, really good. Much better than the movie, which left out about 1/2 of the book.

Rob Lowe's autobiography, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, is also a surprisingly great read. If you grew up in the 80s, it's particularly interesting.

ETA: I second the Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society recommendation. Loved that book.

Don't forget the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlene Harris. The HBO show True Blood is based on those books and the books are so much better.

I loved Wicked and the other 2 oz years books by Gregory Maguire as well as confessions of the ugly step sister. I am reading Maguires Mirror mirror right now and it is my least favorite of his books but still good enough to finish. I am a series reader and love to read everything by favorite authors. I also love Nora Roberts-her writing is varied from supernatural to basic love stories and more, Fern Michaels, Nicholas Sparks,Tess Gerritsen and Neta Jacksons (yada prayer group series) are also favorite authors of mine. If you are christian I recommend the books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins John's story, Mark's story,Luke's story and I think their is Matthew's story. I really liked Mark's story. A dog's purpose was also a great read. Couldn't put it down and still many months and many, many books later think about it- that equals a great book to me. I will be checking back to see what others answered for my own reading list! :)

I've only read a couple of books this year and THE HELP was soooooo good. I know you read it, but I just wanted to plug it for the other mamas. :) My friend is reading it and she is a non reader and is very slow. She is devouring it, too. :)

Loved the other suggestions! Great question.

Ok, those 3 books you listed are some of my all-time favs. Here's my MUST reads!!!

Vampire Academy series - Richelle Mead - stronger characters and better plot than Twilight. LOVED it.

Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study by Maria Snyder. Another strong female lead, great books, I could read those weekly and never get bored.

I second The Art of Racing in the Rain. Get tissues for the ending!

Graceling by Kristin Cashore. Wonderful, wonderful book!

Water For Elephants was also good.

Also check out Once Upon a River by Bonnie Jo Campbell. Great coming of age story.

Room was just eh. I liked Jaycee Dugard's memoir "A Stolen Life" much better.

Try "And Ladies of the Club" by Helen Hoover Santmeyer which was a big hit in the 80's. Its the saga of a group of women in a literary club in a small Ohio town from just after the War Between the States and the 1920's. I love the characters. Have you read all the Charlaine Harris True Blood novels? They're a bit more adult than the other series you listed, but fun.
