I have two special needs children ages are 7 years old and a 3 year old both with special needs. (CP) I am wanting a church in the midcities area or saginaw area with a good nursery or daycare for kids with special needs so I can go to church without worrying about what is going on with my children. Can you please help?

What can I do next?

Hi C.,

I am a stay at home mom with a 5 year old daughter with Cerebral Palsy. I would highly recommend Northwood Church off of Rufe Snow and North Tarrant Parkway. They have an excellent program there for special needs kids. Everyone there is so caring and attentive with these kids. I first heard about Northwood through my cousin and from a few therapists my daughter had been going to and they too recommended Northwood. I would love to talk to you some more about this and finally I feel like I have something in common with another mommy!

Thanks,

C. H.

Hi... I don't go to a church in the mid-cities area (I live in Keller) but I know the church I go to has several special needs children that have adult mentors as their care givers so that they can attend sunday school and their parent(s) attend the services. I attend Irving Bible Church. You can find more information at www.irvingbible.org I can't say enough good things about this church... I hope you can find a church home where you feel welcome and your children are embraced. There are LOTS of good people there to help should you choose to visit... I was a Sunday school teacher there for several years before becoming pregnant with my second child -- he sat on the nerve in my hip and I couldn't walk half the time so I took a hiatus from teaching. I'm hoping to start back up with this new school year. Maybe I'll see you around! :) Good luck... if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me

C.,

A while back I had my daughter's speech evaluated by E.I. and in their package, I noticed that a church in Keller had a parent's night out program for special needs children. Maybe that have something like that for during the service? It might be worth checking out.

Northwood Community Church
Keller
I believe it is located on Rufe Snow

Hope this helps!

The Met Church in Keller has been wonderful about helping me with my son with TBI. Give them a call and talk to the children's director. Hollie is wonderful. The church is a contemporary non-denominational church. The music is out of this world and the pastor is wonderful too.
