My husband does University of Phoenix Online. The classes are five weeks long, and you have the option of taking a week off in between classes or not taking a break but finishing sooner. He has a few group projects, and it's all coordinated by newsgroups. Most of the textbooks are online, but if you need to purchase one, you'll know way in advance. Good luck!

Hi there, not suer what area you are from, but I looked into some of the online schools. You have to be very careful in picking one first off...alot of rip offs! Really check them out good. I wish I knew what you were wanting to take. I know I ended up going to our community college for my classes, they offered child care so that helped. So of the classes I signed up for they offered online so that was really nice. I have a friend that works for a company called EDMC, it is a educational management company with multi colleges if I knew what you wanted to take I could ask him to look in to the best school for you. Are there any community colleges or universities nearby your house? I would check there first. Also check with the major universities in your state. I live in WV and have wanted to get my masters forever, but couldn't between working and raising my son. West Virginia University is now offering an online masters degree in my field (journalism). In-state tuition isn't too bad for it and there are only a handful of times over the whole program (like 1-2 times per semester) when you actually have to go to campus. Good luck!

I took online classes my whole pregnancy and up until my daughter was 8 months old. They were great. I would work online while she was napping of after she went to bed at night. It was so convenient to do it on my own time. Plus with all my classes, assignments were only due once a week, so I had all week to finish them when it was convenient for me. I went to Pennsylvania College of Technology and got my Bachelors in Applied Health Studies. If you haven't checked them out yet, their website is www.pct.edu

it depends on what your degree is toward. Mercer County College is a great school to take online classes with.

Drexel university is also a good place to do online classes.

WHat is your major and how much more do you have to go?

I am not sure what your major is, but I finished my degree through University of Pittsburgh. They have a few different options such as online and external studies. I did both and really enjoyed it. Only problem is you have to be very disciplined to do all the work on your own. Some people need a structured environment, but if that isn't you then either of these programs would work great.

In the past I went to community college and Carlow University. I took some online course at both. The online courses were good, if you can make yourself keep a schedule with them, just like you really had to go to class at a regular time, if not you'll fall behind. Although subjects that were tricky for me I don't think I could have taken online.
The majority of my classes were on campus, but are set up for working adults, or in our case, people with kids. They are good classes, the colleges seem to streamline them and cut out alot of little piddly assignments to help you focus on what you really need to learn. The classes themselves usually don't start until later in the evening - when it is easier for childcare. They worked out great for me as my husband watched my boys in the evening, and as a result bonded with them in a new way.

I am currently going to Stonecliffe College online its an academic division of Colorado Tech university online. My husband goes to Colorado Technical University online. So we are both attending online schools. Which ever school you are looking into make sure they are accredited. Both Stonecliffe and CTU are nationally accredited schools. I also looking into Keiser College, AIU, Phoenix online, Kaplan University and they were all great schools just wasnt what I was looking for.

Each school does classes a little differentl/ CTU you take two classes each session which is about 5 weeks. You can go to one of you need too it just adds time on to your graduation. Stonecliffe has one class each session which is 5 weeks also. They both have two hour long "chat sessions" with the instructor. Same as if you were in class. They are archived which means you do not have to show up to the live session you can access it anytime. You communicate with your intructor through email, phone, messenger. Almost every teacher I have had has given us their home phone number or cell phone. You turn you homework on the web site. Now at CTU they do not have knowledge checks but stonecliffe does. CTU usually has a Dicussion Board which is like a paper you write with your opinion and a indivual project or group project. Most of my classes have had knowledge checks which is a test of 20 questions you get 90 minutes to complete it and you can use any resource at your disposile. I have used the internet, the textbook, you name it. If you have any problems with a teacher not getting back to you about a question you have all u do is contact your student advisor and they will help rectify the proble, I have done this recently. Oh yeah, I am going for my AA in business administration with a concentration in management.
What schools are you looking into? Good luck. The online schools are great for mothers who cannot attend a brick and mortar school or even those who would feel ackward going to college with a bunch of 18 yr old.

I know you found a school but I thought I would just throw in my 2 cents in case anyone else stumbles across this thread. I got to University of Maryland University College. Its a great accredited uni with a whole slew of degrees that one can take complely on line. They've been in the online school business since it started so it's got all the kinks out. I really like it.

I am completing my PhD though Walden University. They are the oldest distance learning school, now online. They have the better reputation among the online schools. The University of Phoenix has the reputation of "churning" out their students and unlike Walden, do not require residencies.

Upper Iowa University has a great program. I took some classes there but a friend of mine went all the way through and received his Masters. He is now in pre-law at Buffalo University in NY. http://www.uiu.edu/

I started taking online classes with University of Phoenix. I started them right after thanksgiving and i'm almost done my first 2 classes. you take 2 classes at a time and each class is 9 weeks each. i highly recommend them. the advisors make sure you are doing well in your classes. mine calls me once a week to see how i'm doing and if i need help with anything. and the teachers do whatever they can to help you as well.

What degree are you working for? I took just a certificate program online at Villanova for Human Resources and really liked that.

I attended AIUOnline. It is a good online school. In July, I graduated with honors for my Associates in Business Management. My husband and I are raising his 3 yr old granddaughter. I was also babysitting friend's kids, and preparing for my younger daughter's wedding. I had taken a break from Sophomore to Junior classes due to the births of my 2 grandbabies and my upcoming surgery. Everything is delivered to you as far as books are concerned. To do the online classes, you will need DSL/Cable modem. The professors/instructors I had were great.

AIU does their classes 2 at a time for 5 wks.then right into the next set of 2. you do learn from there.

I am currently on leave from Franklin University/ It is a school out of Columbus, OH, that offers great online courses and it is ACCREDITED. They offer a wonderful format for the classes, most credits transfer, and they accept financial aid through FAFSA. I live in Beaver County, and they accept any state aid that I get. They offer a lot of degrees. For instance, I am majoring in Digital Communications with a minor in Computer Science. My husband is finishing his Master's Degree online there as well. I'm not sure of your major, but most are covered. If you choose this school, financial aid apps need to be in before March for the easiest transition. You can check them out at www.franklin.edu. I noticed that you added that they were applied and healthcare management. This school seems to have a great program in those areas. Because many of my courses overlap with the business majors, I hear a lot from them and they are pleased.

YES! I have taken a certification course for my CLAD through Stanford and my husband got a masters degree from Troy University. Both programs were GREAT!

This is the perfect way for you to finish your schooling while still caring for your babies. It is very self paced... you have to be on top of things. But the study is rigerous and challenging. The best part is you don't have to commute.

Depending on what type of degree program you are looking for there are a lot of different colleges that offer online programs. I am currently working to finish my Associates through Penn Foster Career School (http://www.pennfoster.edu/) and am looking to transfer to either AIU or DeVry. The big thing you want to watch for is to make sure that you are selecting a college that is Regionally Accredited so that you can transfer credits if you change schools later. University of Phoenix is top notch ... but the price tag goes with it. Most also offer tuition assistance. Hope this helps!
