I was just wondering how much you all paid for an overnight baby sitter? My husband and I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks and it is an "adult only" wedding. We were hoping to get a sitter to stay overnight so that we could stay in the city where the wedding is being held (its 2 hrs away). Basically, the sitter would get to our house around noon on Friday and we would be home by noon on Saturday. (24 hours). I have a lot of people who have offered to take my son overnight at their house, but I want someone to come to my house and watch him (plus our dog) so that he can sleep in his own bed and not mess up his routine too bad. :) I have some sitters in mind, but before I ask, I wanted to see what the going rate for an overnight sitter was. Any advise would be great! Thanks!
I paid $150 for 2 nights and 3 days, but that was too a good friend. I knew on couple that used to pay $60 a night to their sitter for over nights.
I pay my regular sitters $75 a night...but that is for 12-13 hours or so. They pick my daughter up from preschool/daycare and drop her off in the morning when I am on business trips--she stays at their house. An agency here in town that I use for back-up charges $150-175 for 24 hours of care.
Honestly, depending on how old he is, one night at someone else's house isn't going to make that big of a difference. If he isn't used to staying with anyone else, his routine is going to be thrown off anyway. Keep him with someone you trust. Peace of mind is worth more than any routine.
I would say anywhere from $75 to $100. that sounds like a lot but when you figure your asking them to be there for 24 hours thats less than $5 an hour. even if he's asleep he will need someone to care for him.
I have offered overnight care in the past. I charged $8.00 an hour for awake hours and $5.00 for hours that the child was asleep. You didn't say how old your child is. If he/she still wakes at night then I would charge for an extra few hours at $8.

As a nanny whom has been doing overnight sitting for over 14 years, I charge families a flat rate per 24 hours. If you are expecting someone to watch your children, feed them, care for animals, I would offer her $100-125. Plus, I would leave money for pizza for dinner, and some for her gas tank if she is picking up kids, and/or driving them anywhere.
I pay $15 for the hourly "awake" hours, then $35 flat for the sleeping hours.
I did this a few months ago and it was for my 3 yr old and 6 month old. We paid $150 for 24 hrs. We normally pay this girl $10/hr, so it was definitely cheaper than paying by the hour. But I think she still made enough $ that it was worth her time.

OK last night I asked the daycare girls. She said typically they pay $100 for an overnight...but that goes from about 6pm til 8 or 9am the next day (not 24 hours)..I thought that seemed fair. Since yours will be about 24 hours, Maybe $150 seems good. :)
I love your question....I am posting an answer so I can come edit it tonight. The girls at my daycare do this all the time. i have never personally asked them to do it for me, but I will ask them how much they get paid and then ask how much they "expect" and let you know. The girls at the daycare age between 19 - 21 (college kids) my gut tells me $100 for 24 hours, but I could be WAY off.
We pay the typical hourly rate while the kids are awake and then half that for 8 hours of "sleeping time." I think it's on the high side but you could use that as a gut check. $100 seems low.
