How long do kids have to take medicine (eye drops) for pink eye. I thought the directions are on the eye drops but it is on the box that I threw out.

What can I do next?

I'd call either the pediatrician or the pharmacist - the pharmacy will have record of the original prescription or will be able to tell you how it's normally doses.

It's going to depend on the exact medication that has been prescribed, too, and the age of your child.

Hope that helps.

definitely call the pharmacist, as many meds have different rules, as may your daughter's particular version of the illness.

I am a school nurse. The prescription could be for 5, 7 or 10 days. DO NOT 2nd guess this... Everyone gave you good advice.....call the doctor or the pharmacist, it's the only way to know for sure... Using it too long won't hurt, however, using it not long enough will not eliminate the bacteria..... Always be sure......

Both of my boys just had pink eye and my box says to put 2 drops in their eyes 3 times a day for 5 days. You can also call the peds office and double check because they might have given you something different or the pharmacy should have a record of it too. Hope this helps,
J.

I would use the drops until they run out. (You can always call your doctor's office or pharmacy if you are unsure.)

Best,
R.

We just went through this last week. Our bottle says 5-7 days depending on when your eye clears. We went 5 days (all of us, ugh!!) and we're all fine.

If it is the one with antibiotics than probably 7 days, but don't take my word for it. You can call your pharmacists and ask or google your eye drops (assuming the name of the medication is on teh bottle) and find the recommended dosis online.

My kids, and I, always had to do the drops for 5 days. Our first pink eye incident was when my older kids were 4 and my 2 year old had it a month ago, same time period. You can call the pharmacy and ask. They should have it on record.

Probably 5-7 days, I do know that you are no longer contagious after 24 hours of eye drops.
