I have been looking ever since my daughter was born for a playgroup taht would meet during hours that working parents could attend.

My church has a MOPS (Moms of preschoolers) group, but once again - they only meeting during the morning on a weekday.

Does anyone know of a group that meets in the evenings and/or weekends?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your replies ladies!

My DD gets to play with other kids when we go to church on the weekends so at least she's interracting with other kids for an hour or so each week.

I was just trying to connect with other families that are double income with young kids. Sometimes it seems like other such families don't exist.

There is an awesome website www.wichitamoms.org where there are moms who are looking for the same thing as you! It's a great place to meet local moms from the Wichita and surrounding areas :)

Hi M.,

Do your parents take your daughter to a playgroup when they watch her on the weekdays? If so, you probably don't need to worry too much about getting her in another playgroup. If they don't, try and talk to them to see if they can take her to a playgroup once or twice a week. Most playgroups are designed to allow stay-at-home moms a break from isolation and to allow the kids to socialize with other children, especially if they are the only child in the home. I don't know of a lot of playgroups that meet in the evenings, especially on the weekdays. Most families are worried about getting dinner on the table, the children bathed, getting the kids to bed, and getting ready for work the next day. That's probably why there's not a playgroup on weekday nights. But if you're looking for a night out, you can try Kids Night Out at Wichita Gymnastics. I'm not sure where you live, but you can try looking for something similar in your area.

Here's an idea....start your own with some of your friends that are in the same situation. You can meet at Chucky Cheese's or something like that or meet at your house and move it to every location. Not only does this give you a break but it lets the kids get familiarized with each other and then they look forward to a play group. Also, if your friends have other friends that want to join in, that's new friends for you!

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions but am looking forward to the replies. I also have been interested in finding a mothers group for evening functions. The groups I have found do mothers only events in the evenings. My best friend has been looking also and we joke that we should start our own group.
