Mine does piano on Monday, scouts after school on Tuesday, and kids church on wednesday and full church on sunday. We try to do the park or school playground where other kids play every Saturday and we try to have kids over to play at least once per week, usually Sunday afternoon.

What can I do next?

My oldest is 8yrs old and in 3rd grade. He is in Cub Scouts and that meets twice a month and sometimes they do extra activities. Once a month he participates in 'Friday Fun night' at the school or community center. In the summer he golfs. Thats it. I like them to enjoy childhood without being overscheduled.

My son has cub scouts Monday nights. He does a basketball clinic on Sat mornings. We usually invite a friend over or he goes to a friends house to play once (or sometimes 2ce) a week. Besides that he plays with neighborhood kids (lots!).

during the week its school, snack, homework, outside to play with the neighbors, dinner, some tv, showers and bed at 8pm for all of them (ages 14 spec needs, 11 and 8). Saturday is usually some house cleaning in the mornings, movie at the theater and lunch, home to play at the park or with the neighbors, inside for bed. Sunday morning is church and then the same thing as saturday. no extracurricular activities as my kids have never asked to do any!!!

My kids, ages 6 and 8, have the same schedule, Martial arts class Thurs eve and Sat morning for 1 hr each class. We do play dates once per week. We always do something fun on the weekend as a family, which might mean going to the musuem, a movie or just playing croquet in the backyard.

My oldest has Special Chorus twice a week before school, Intermurals on Tuesday afternoon, and Math Wings once a week before school. We also go to church on Wednesday evening and Sunday mornings. Right now she is in the church Christmas play so she is at church Sunday evenings for practice. Soon we will be there three days plus Sunday for rehearsals. She also just finished cheer practices which were held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. She cheered at football games every Saturday from Sept. to Nov. and we will be starting Basketball cheer Saturdays from Dec. to Feb. I can't imagine what it will be like when all three of my girls are in stuff.

Wow you have a busy kid! , my 2nd grade son does art after school Monday ,and has swim lessons Sat AM and that's it. What with his homework aswell I just feel then anything else after school will not give him enough down time , my preschooler (age 4) does ballet Tues PM and will also be starting swim lessons in the new year on a weekend. The rest of the weekend is family time , days out or going to the park , and after school is homework , dinner and then some daddy time until they go to bed around 8pm.

My oldest is 15. Her schedule is crazy! I keep trying to tell her that she is doing to much. She has cheerleading mon 5:45-8:00, tues. drama club after school, then cheerleading 5:45-8:00, wed tumbling 4:00-5:15, thurs church choir after school, then cheerleading 5:45-7;00 game at 7:00, saturday cheerleading 9:00-12:00. She is starting to fall asleep eating dinner. That dinner being not with the family and when she can fit it in. I am very uncomfortable with all of this. She is a freshman in highschool. I am hoping that she will listen to me soon and realize that her schedule is going to burn her out :( On the other hand, she is an honor student and thinks she can handle it all....

13 yr old: karate for 1 3/4 hrs Mon, Tues, Thurs, guitar lesson on Wed.
9 yr old: swimming 1hr Tues, Wed, Fri., piano on Wed., tennis lesson Sat. pm.
8yr old: piano lesson Wed, ballet on Sat morning, tennis lesson Sat. pm.

Somewhere in between we squeeze in homework and somehow manage to eat dinner together at the dinner table everyday except Wed. The hours between 3:30pm and about 8:30pm are very demanding for me. I've become very good at cooking with the crockpot or making very fast dinners. Usually there are playdates on the weekends. I spend a lot of time in my car driving them around. But they're happy and love their activities, so I'm happy to do it.

How is your child that you are talking about?
Are you comparing???

I think, it also has to do with the age of the child.... AND if they then can keep up with schoolwork.... well.

My eldest, takes Karate. Twice a week, week day nights.
On the weekend, she has a Tutor.
And sure, both my kids have play dates.
That's it.

It is not about how many or how little a child does.... there is also the family demands as a whole... and the parents, and family time... and the budget and the kids school responsibilities too...

I always have my kids in 1 sport and 1 music lesson. That's it. No more and no less.

For 11 yr. son: TaeKwonDo and piano lessons
For 8 yr. girl: Figure Skating and piano lessons.

We recently moved, so there would also be church on Sat eve or Sun am.
We have lots of playdates, I encourage them anytime. We stay and play at the school park almost every day after school, sometimes for over an hour.
We always do something over the weekend: rock climbing, bicycle ride, Wii, long walks, garden together, decorate for the next holiday together, holiday craft or baking.

K is 7 and she has BMX on Monday evenings when the track is open for racing.

On Tuesday her little brother has Kinder Gym at 4 and she has tap/ballet at 6. We have a good snack on the way, like happy meals or Wendy's meals. I get off work at the studio at 7:30 so then we go home and eat dinner. My husband is with us so he can handle the 3 year old after gymnastics. He often takes them between classes to dinner if they are really hungry.

On Wednesday I have to be at work at the gym/dance studio by 3:45 so we again have a good snack but it's just me and K, she has tumbling at 4 and gymnastics at 5. I get off at 6:30 then we go home and eat dinner.

On Thursdays we go to the gym/dance studio to pick up my best friends kids so they won't have to hang out with mom all evening. K often has soccer practice if she is in season for play, my friends son does too so we drop him off and go to hers then go pick him up. So it's usually a movie and popcorn night, with me watching Grey's Anatomy in another room turning it off quickly if they come in for some reason or another. I am just not up to explaining why two girls kiss and sleep naked in bed together.

Fridays is usually a night we eat at the table and spend time talking and maybe even playing a game or 2. But if Eureka is on you can expect us to be watching all together.

On Saturday, Soccer or we might drive to another town for a BMX race or to visit family but it's usually cleaning and laundry day.

Sunday used to be church in the morning but we aren't going anywhere right now. The afternoon is BMX again. We go as a family and I expect he little brother to be racing sometime next year too.
