Hello ladies. This is in addition to my last question. So I was due for my period on the 18th. I did not get it. I took a test on the 19th and it was negative. It is now the 22 and I have no signs of my period or pregnancy. I know a lot of you will say it is because I stressed and that is why I am late. I want to make it clear I DID NOT STRESS! I was talking with my friend today and she said she took 10 home tests and they all came out negative until the 11th one said she was pregnant. Can that really happy? I just wish I knew something regardless of what it is. Also when I think about buying another test and when I go to the store to get one I start to get cramps and do not want to waste the money. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

ok 1. yes that can happen the home prego tests test for a hormone level but it it is not big enough to trigger the test then it will keep saying no.

2. If you do not want to spend $$ then wait a week and try again. Be careful as if you are though just incase.

3. Ask the Doctor to run a blood prego test that will show even the smallest trace of the hormone HCG

Good luck!!

If you think you really might be, go get a blood test from the doctor. I thought I was back in February, but just came to realize my cucle had gone back to what it was before having my 3 kids...and that is TOTALLY unpredictable. I got the blood test in the morning and started my cycle by lunch. Good luck!

If you're worried about it, go to the dollar store and get one for $1 (or 5!) and take them.

Periods are unpredicatable. I just had a case where I missed 2 months worth of periods (and i am usually consistant) I took several tests all negative, then one day, i just started. I wouldn't do them back to back... that would be a wast of money. If you are you are, and waiting another week to buy another test wont change it. I was just reading about the accuracy of home tests last week (since i was 2 months late) and some women don't produce enough HCG hormone for many weeks (even for the early response tests) so you could have negative tests for weeks and then one day have a positive one
Drs are the best way to go.

The thing is, is that pregnancy tests are meant to read the level of a certain hormone that can be found in your urine. When you initially get pregnant those levels are really low and as your pregnancy progresses they increase. Just how fast they increase is the trick to when that test will show up positive. I think the general rule of thumb is to wait two weeks. Now that being said it may take less time or even more time for the tests to work. What you want to be looking for on the tests is what level or amount of hormone the tests need to be able to tell you if you are pregnant or not.
As far as the tests themselves go, one brand or type can be just as accurate as the other. I have used several different types. I can tell you that those stupid digital ones where you pee on them then stick them in the little reader are a waste of money and time. You're much better off going out and buying a $3 test at the dollar general then going to Walmart and buying a $15 test. They pretty much have all the same stuff in them, it's just some are more expensive then others. So I think overall you are probably just testing too soon. Wait until you're a couple of weeks late and then do another one. But like I said get a cheap one, you will get the same results regardless. I know, I did this with my fourth one. They do work great.

I always have to be really late to get a positive test. With all of my children I didn't get a positive test until 4-6 weeks late. You could just have low levels of the hormone that it test for. I would wait a bit more and test again if you don't get your period.

I Would wait a few more days and then do another one. If it is meant to be it will happen. I took a test on the 31st of october and it was negative and then took it again on the 5th of November and it popped up positive. Good luck

Go buy the test - if you get your period before you use it I'm sure you'll use it sometime in the future, they're good for a long time. If your period is late I would test every 3-4 days. Also, are you making sure your urine isn't too diluted. I remember when I took it the package said the best time is first thing in the morning when your urine is most concentrated (and therefore the highest amount of the hormone will be in it if you are in fact pregnant). If you are pregnant your hcg levels are going up fast so that's why I say every 3-4 days. Good luck and let us know what the outcome is!

IT can happen depending when implantation occurs, how quickly your body produces HCG, and many other variables. If you still did not get your period, I would buy a dollar store test, for only a dollar and they are just as accurate. You can buy a couple for cheaper than a brand name. If you are still getting negs after another week and no period, then I would go to your ob/gyn for a blood test.

Sometimes you can miss a period over illness but if you weren't sick then that isn't it lol... but if I were you, I wouldn't waste my money on another HPT. Going to the doctor to get a more accurate blood test could definitely be more beneficial. It's more likely to pick up hormone levels because the test is more sensitive than a HPT. Good luck!

My period is never predictable. Stress or no stress...illness or no illness....it never comes on the same day of my cycle. Maybe your body just ran a different cycle this time.

I will second the suggestion to buy the Dollar store tests. With both of my pregnancies I got a positive result on the $1 test from Dollar Tree before the expensive brand.

You probably know by now if you are pregnant or not so I hope it worked out the way you wanted.

Dollar Store pregnancy tests are just as reliable as the $15 ones at the pharmacy!!! The company that makes them is reputable. Save your money, or buy 15 $1 tests for the price of one. Then you can take one every day for two weeks!! :o) Best of luck!
