My sister is planning her own baby shower with some help from our family. She has decided she wants to have games and prizes. She is having a ticket given at the door and the guest can put one half in the boy or girl box and one person will win from each. The she will also have a few games but we are having a hard time figuring out what gifts to give. She has one already. Its a light up pacifier but I think we should give out some other things as well or should we just give each person who wins the pacifier? We are open to lots of ideas.

I asked what you do with the light up pacifier as well.

What can I do next?

HI there. We did the same for my baby shower. We had tons of games and prizes. Some of the prizes we had included some bath and body stuff. We made up a bunch of little gifts bags. Others included movie passes, and small gift certificates to Dunkin Donuts, or Starbucks. Some things from Avon and Mary Kay. Good luck and have fun!!

we always did lots of prizes so alot of people could win. go to the dollar store and get notepads, pot holders, mini picture frames, coffee cups, anything really. When all the prizes are taken and theres more games to play the winner selects a gift from one of the pervious winners. Don't open the gifts untill all the games are over.

I think gift cards are the best idea.Alot of gifts given are not used and even if you were only planning $5 gifts a dunkin donuts card or Itunes or even towards gas or groceries is always great. T.

I just threw a baby shower, and I gave out Starbucks gift cards, $10 each. I only had 2 games that gave out prizes, so that was a good amount for me. You can get gift cards in any amount, though, and 5 bucks gets you a fancy cup of coffee :)

Hi there, and congrats to your sister! I think one thing to keep in mind is that not all people attending will be new Moms. Some may be older women with grown children already. Candles are always a good choice. Maybe something seasonal ( Apple or cinnamon for Fall, Mulberry or Mistletoe for Xmas or florals or fruit for Spring or Summer ). Also little tea pots or tea sets can be purchased fairly inexpensively at discount stores. They are nice in a basket with some mixed teas. Even books of poetry or about Moms are good. Hope you guys have fun. Everyone is there for the Mom to be, to celebrate with her. That's the most important part. Good luck and God bless. Lori L

I went to a baby shower and they had games and prizes there as well. My aunt made up baskets of kitchen stuff. Each basket had a theme; one had pancake mix with syrup and spatulas and things for making pancakes. another had margarita mix with glasses. They tried to stay away from baby gifts and more gifts for women and mothers. Good Luck S. G

These may be a little boring, but my Mom gave out candles and candies for my shower.

At my baby shower, the hostess gave plastic baby bottles filled with nuts, chocolate, and candies as prizes. For favors we did baby powder scented candles wrapped in a square of fabric. Each had a business size card attached with our thank you and a photo of the sonogram. We had each guest write a note on the candle's fabric and leave them for me. The idea was to make a blanket out of the fabric squares....which is yet to happen, but a great idea anyways!!

Hi KS,

Check out the $1 spot section in Target. They've got a lot of cute stuff on the cheap!

Well- What do you do with a light up pacifier when you get it home? I just went to a shower & they had a couple candles & a couple bottles of wine as prizes. I love the idea of games, favors & prizes but sometimes what looks so cute in the store just becomes clutter in your home. I like to try to give something that the people will get use out of. My wedding favor was maple syrup. I hope this helps. Something as simple as cute baby decorated Cupcakes- or candy apples- tied with blue & pink ribbon. good luck
