Recurrening Yeast Infection

Hi All,

About 2 years ago I posted about a recurring yeast infection. Now, after all your wonderful advice, 3 OB/GYN's and one infectious disease doctor, I am still suffering. I would do a treatment, the infection would go away, but within a week it would come right back.

I've tried every medication and natural cure known to man (or the internet), I'm not diabetic and I'm not getting it from my husband. No amount of changing washing detergent or lack of underwear and NOT taking baths has stopped it. At this point, I've resigned myself to this just being a new way of life for me.

So, my question is, is there anyone else who has dealt with this? If so, how did you cope? Did it eventually (this is going on 3 years for me) correct itself?

Thank you!

I wanted to add, I have cut out all sugar and white flour, and have been on a strict low-carb diet for months (I still have the yeast infection, but at least my scale is happy lol). Sadly, yogurt never worked for me. When I say I've tried EVERYTHING, I mean it. :)

What can I do next?

I had the same thing. Tried everything, saw plenty of doctors. Then finally one of them suggested that it might be the contraceptive pill I was on. I stopped taking it and the yeast infection cleared up. What a relief. Apparently it's not common so doctors don't usually go there.

What specifically have you tried for the yeast overgrowth? Have you tried to correct it in your digestive tract? Yeast overgrowth is a sign of imbalance in your body's biome...we all need candida, but a healthy body has enough balance to keep the candida to a healthy level. If it's out of control, it's feeding on what you're eating and/or is not being countered by enough other good bacteria.

Have you eliminated sugar and grain from your diet? Do you eat fermented foods and take probiotics?

Treating the yeast isn't an external exercise, it's about correcting your body's balance from the inside out. An elimination diet can take some time, but you should notice a difference in how you feel within the first few days and see dramatic results in a couple of weeks. If you haven't already tried this approach, I would check out the following websites:

mercola.com
theyeastconnection.com
thehormonecure.com

You can't just accept this as-is, it's a sign of poor health that needs to be corrected. Sugar and grain feed yeast and cause systemic health issues for some people. If you haven't already tried eliminating these from your diet, start with a good detox program and see if that starts to give you results.

Good luck!

Have you tried pickle juice? As long as you don't have a heart problem (because of the sodium in pickle juice which causes water retention), pickle juice should do the trick. My grandma taught me about it. It has NEVER failed me. I usually start by eating a pickle, drinking a little juice, several times a day for at least a week. At the end of the full week, cut back to just one pickle a day and several chugs out of the jar during the course of the day. Do this for another full week. That should take care of it. Then do "maintenance" by having something vinegary (or just stick with the pickles) several times a week. It's the vinegar that kills the yeast. I worked with a lady that had a chronic yeast problem for years. She was so fed up with nothing working. She finally gave in and tried the pickle cure and it worked! Good luck!

I have heard of women taking empty tampon tubes, filling them with yogurt, and then freezing them. You then put the frozen yogurt in your vagina nightly. The other way to get yogurt into the vagina would be with a syringe. But for me what my general practitioner treated 3 different times as yeast turned out to be bacterial when I finally went to an ObGyn who did a pH test. 1 treatment of the right creme and it was gone. But I am going to keep the pickle treatment from below in mind.

You need to find a holistic doctor that has experience in chronic yeast infections. You will need to stop eating all white foods and eat very clean for a long time to get rid of this infection. It is internal.

I take a very good -high quality probiotic.

On Dr. Oz---he mentioned the plain yogurt on a tampon. I am sure you could do a search and find it.

What about a naturopath dr?

I had recurring yeast infections and UTIs a few years back. My OBGYN ruled out diabetes and other serous causes. It was not hygienic or diet-related. Sometimes women get chronic yeast infections and they do not know why. After a while my OBGYN recommended I try boric acid capsules that I made myself and inserted daily as a way to prevent them. It worked. (I don't remember how long I used them, But eventually I stopped and they cleared up.) Look it up and ask your doctor. Now it's about 10 years later and I get an occasional YI and take a Diflucan. I also make sure to eat yogurt, take a probiotic. I also wear Stay- Cool Jockey underwear, which is a great product.

After 3 years of this I think you can say you've got a chronic yeast problem.
I know you said you tried yogurt - was that just eating it?
Have you tried adding 1 cup of plain yogurt to your bathwater and/or applyiing it directly (warm it up a little first)?
I hope it gets better someday.
This has got to be just miserable to live with!
