Registered Dietitian Recommendation

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Registered Dietitian in the Good Sam/Los Gatos area? And has anyone used one and willing to share their results? I've been struggling to lose weight over the last few years, and I know it is mainly due to my eating habits. I have struggled with emotional eating and am beginning to get a handle on that, although it is still difficult. My weight and self image has kept me from enjoying things in life that I used to enjoy - it's been tough. I am finally at the point that I want to change. I do exercise about three times a week. I thought maybe seeing a RD would help. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

I have a lot of friends who have had success with Weight Watchers (they look great!). One friend even started to work for WW. They have several programs to fit your life style--check it out.

Blessings

I don't know how much you need to lose but I had bariatric surgery last year and have lost 147 pounds. If you have more than 100 lbs to lose, you might want to check this out. My advice: do not have a Ruen-Y procedure. The DS procedure is much better. There are others too. I have so much more energy now. My quality of life has changes 100%. Good luck.

I recently received a letter from my Obstetrician's office that they are starting weightloss clinic. There are two locations, Los Gatos and San Jose. www.mediweightlossclinics.com

Every patient will receive an individually customized and prescribed program which includes appetite suppressants, body fat analysis, diet and excercise counseling, and weekly progress checks where they monitor your progress, blood pressure and adjust your program accordingly.

Another option is Dr. Timothy Jennings (Chiropractor and Kinseologist). He is absolutely wonderful and is also starting a weightloss clinic. Check out his website.

My sister stuggled with trying to lose weight for years also. She also was not feeling herself. She ate right and exercised and instead of losing she kept gaining. She went for a physical and found out that she had thyroid issues. She got on medication and lost at least 20lbs., the last time we talked. Something to look into.

Hi H.

Have you heard of the Wellness/Weight Loss Program called Healthpointe? Many people I know have lost weight on this program and I use it myself for weight maintenance and good health. A very recent testimonial of the program has been from Merry Lou and her husband Glenn.
Merry Lou: Lost 18 lbs. Lost 10 1/4 inches
Had been diagnosed with diabetes in Sept.; her recent blood work shows normal blood sugar levels!! From Sept. to Dec. her cholesterol went down 52 points without medication.
She reported that she has lots of energy, and is never hungry.
Glenn: Lost 25 lbs. Lost 10 1/4 inches
He had been on Diabetes medication. His numbers came way down, and the Doctor has taken him off this medication. His cholesterol has also come down significantly; the Doctor has cut his cholesterol medication in half.
What I like about Healthpointe is that it educates how your body uses food, and teaches how to prepare healthy meals. A friend of mine Carol is a Weight Loss/Wellness Consultant (not a registered dietitian) for Healthpointe. She lives in Los Altos and her email is: ____@____.com the very best.

Hi,

My sister is a registered dietitian. She and her dietitian friend Ruth work specifically with emotional eating issues. Unfortunately my sister is taking some time off sice she had twins 9 months ago, along with a 2.5 year old. But Ruth is still practicing in the Good Sam area. She's great - Ruth Spriakis ###-###-####.

I know they have has good long-term success working with patients & Ruth takes all types of insurance.

Good luck, I know it's not easy taking care of yourself along with your son. But you deserve the extra attention you give yourself!

A great resource to find an RD is to go to the American Dietetic Association website at www.eatright.org. You will find a link there for finding an RD in your area. Good luck
