Seeking Activities for Toddler in the Glendale Area

depening where in Glendale you are located...there is a mommy and me group run out of Glendale College and one out of the Burbank Adult School. BOTH are good ways to meet people and let the kids play hard. I do the Burbank Adult School Program. and love it. The other thing I do with my kids is hiking with Babes in Backpacks (babesinbackpacks.com). It is a GREAT way to get out in nature (w go to different locations each week) and you get a workout and tire out the kids at the same time!

This is a great way to make new friends and learn at the same time. Glendale City College! Sign up for a class, you attend with your child. You both get to make new friends!!!

Wallaby is a new family development center in Los Feliz/Silverlake that offers parent & me classes for children 1-3. The classes meet either once or twice a week, and include a variety of great activities - facilitated by a pair of wonderful teachers - including freeplay with a fabulous selection of toys and materials, a simple art project, circle time and singing, and movement. http://wallaby-la.com

Dragon Fly Du Lou on Hillhurst in Los Feliz has really fun classes for all ages and Kidspace in Pasadena in perfect for an 18 month old. Good luck!

Pacific Park/Library/Community Center on Pacific has a great tot time twice a week! You'll have to call to get the deats, I think it's Tues and Thurs from 10am-noon. But I'm not sure, we took my daughter until she started nursery school.
You don't need to register or anything. It's a just a big gym they open up with a bunch of different toys from little bikes, and push cars, to blocks to big balls and tunnels. It's great, parents sit around and talk or play. And in the summer that park has the water fountain palm trees that Marley never got bored with...
Be sure to pick up Glenale Parks and Recreation booklet, it's seasonal and they have all kinds of free or low cost events year round.
This Saturday, the 9th at the Brand Park they are hosting a snow day! They bring in tons of snow for the kids to play in, last year there was sledding and some dance performances by a local dance school. It was fun and free... we'll be there for sure.
There is also a free mommy and me group that meets once a week at the movie theatre on Brand. They meet early before any shows and use the lobby as a space to sing and dance.

Have you tried the play place upstairs at the Galleria? The floor is cushioned with lots of climbing structures. All the kids there run around, they get so excited they wouldn't walk there. It's a really fun place! I take my one year old there to let him work it off.

Hi- We have a membership at the zoo and go about 2 to 3 x's a week. Also look into the Glendale Moms club. They have get togethers and play groups every week. I belong to the Burbank moms club and it was a good group for me to start. The park at the corner of Buena Vista and Verdugo is awesome for little ones. It is enclosed by a fence and has cool toys and playground. Oh and Kidspace Childrens museum in pasadena is awesome on hot and cold days. Good luck.

I do know there is a toddler group out of St. Joseph Medical center in Burbank. It is on Thursdays. I think it is at 10am. You can call the hospital and they can give you more info.

Check out the Burbank Adult School. There is an incredible class that meets once a week for 2.5 hours. It is a 16 week session for only $95. Tons of play time, some songs, puzzles, crafts and even some built in mommy time. I believe that Glendale has something similar.

There is also a website called Meetup that had playgroups you can join!
And next weekend at Brand Park there is going to be 60 tons of snow for kids to play in!
My Gym or Gymboree is a great place for climbing!

The parent ed classes through Glendale City College are INVALUABLE. It's hard to believe but they are free! I've been taking my kids for four years and now have such a wonderful network of friends. Every week my kids can't wait to go. It's like preschool but you are there. Try to get into a class in the Life Skills Building. I also take a similar class through Pasadena City College. Same format, a bit further to drive.

Two other favorites are SWORK, a coffee shop with a small play area, great for meeting up with other mothers with small children (two locations... Eagle Rock and Montrose). I also like to take the kids to Descanso Gardens in Montrose. There are fish, ducks, hedge maze, a small train to ride and tons of open space to run.

There are a variety of parks in the Glendale area with a lot of different structures and activities. Nibley Park has a nice play structure and a small grass covered hill that my son loves to run up and down. Fremont Park has a large play structure with long slides that older kids seem to love. I am a mom in Burbank, which is very close to Glendale. I have attended a program with both of my kids at the Burbank Adult School, which is awesome! It runs from birth through pre-K, and it's sort of like a Mommy & Me program, focusing on the kids and the moms! It's a great and incredibly affordable way to meet other moms, get involved in some really fun activities that the program offers and for the kids to make friends. We have a great halloween carnival, springtime fun, field trips when the kids get a little older, entertainment programs just for the kids, assorted workshops on great parenting topics with childcare provided, etc. Each age group has it's own classroom and outdoor activity area with tons of age appropriate toys and we do crafts, circle time, songs, art projects, etc.
