Seeking Pediatrician- Rochester Hills- Flexible with Vaccines

Wow- they refuse huh? My pediatrician is AMAZING. I really can't say enough. He does favor vaccines...but does not push. I actually discussed delaying the MMR vaccine for my daughter and he basically said, look, she should have it before kindergarten and I recommend it now b/c she is in daycare and the number of cases of measels is increasing and it can be deadly...but he didn't have a problem with me waiting. He is very open to discussion these issues. He does believe in vacinating...but has never pushed anything. He will listen and give his advice without judging. (I watched Private Practice a few weeks after this visit and the lady who didn't vaccinate...lost her little boy to complications from measels and I had isabel vaccinated that week...but that's me).

I work at Crittenton and I always recommend Dr. Chung to people. I love working with him and I have never heard any complaints about him. He has a private practice and his office is right off of Avon, around the corner from the hospital. Call his office and see what his thoughts are on holding off vaccines.

We have gone to Pediatrics Consultants of Troy for the last 10 years. They are located in Troy Beaumont Hospital. Dr. Dubina is our primary Dr. and we love her. She starts the appt. talking to us about our questions and concerns, talks to the kids to put them at ease and will even take time to ask about the other kids when it's not their appt. The practice has a night clinic that is open from 5-8 or 9pm on most days and a "well" clinic that is in a different office if you are there for a well baby annual checkup.

Just wondering why you would choose to not vaccinate your child. You would not only be doing an extreme disservice to your child but would also be putting other children in your child's future at risk. If your reason is due to the myth about vaccines and autism, I highly suggest you do some more research on the subject. I hope for your sake that you are not taking advice from J. McCarthy (a celebrity) rather than your own pediatrician. The original vaccine/autism study was debunked long ago - they were using false data. Subsequent studies since than have found NO link between the two. This may not even be your reason, but I had to post this response for any other moms who may actually believe in this myth. Please do your research and talk to several doctors if you feel the need - I guarantee that almost 100% will tell you the same thing.

Like Dianna Z suggested with the first response we also use Pediatric Consultants of Troy at Troy Beaumont. They are wonderful and very flexible with vaccination schedules if you do not feel comfortable following the typical schedule. I have delayed and skipped some vaccinations for my daughter and I didn't get the harsh response that some doctors give. They are very understanding. I couldn't ask for better doctors for my daughter.
