Hi Moms. Has anyone had any luck with any self tanners? We leave Saturday for Disney World and I'm in dire need of some color without having to go tan. Do you know of any self tanners I can use that goes on evenly without streaking or making me look orange? TIA

I'm using Arbonne's self tanner right now and really like it. It has SPF 15 too. It's the best I've ever used. Doesn't make you look orange.

Neutrogena. I've been using it since college (about 12 years). It comes out in a fine mist and works wonderfully. You can get it at CVS/Walgreens. Another option that I have discovered that works well but much more gradually is Jergens. Have fun!

neutrogena makes a foam self tanner that also gives instant color that is pretty good. Just be easy on the knees and around ankle bones and heels. It comes in a bottle that has a pump on the top like foam hand sanitizers. Have fun at disney!!

You must exfoliate first for the best tan. Bliss makes an awesome body scrub/soap that is a little minty and makes my skin so smoothe. You scrub your body with it BEFORE you get in the shower, then scrub some more while you're in the shower. I love Mystic Tan and VersaSpa at Palm Beach Tan, or Loreal Sublime Bronze to use at home. Good luck!

I use the Jergens gradual self tanner. It is a foam and doesn't streak. Also, its gradual so you can stop before it turns orange. I usually use it for 3 days and then I'll stop for a week or so. Also be sure to exfoliate and shave your legs before application. Good luck!

I am a fair skinned expert at self tanners. The best is Neutrogena Micro Mist Tanning Sunless Spray. It sprays on evenly without streaking. However there are several keys to not ending up with orange patches.

Exfoliating really well prior to using the spray is very important!

Then use a small amount of lotion and rub into knee caps, elbows, around your finger nails and toe nails, adn around the edges of your feet and heels. This will keep those areas from getting to dark.

Then follow the instructions on the spray. It would be easiest to put on a bathing suit and stand outside. That wya you won't accidentally spray anything inside.

After you are done spraying gently rub in. The spray says you do not need to do this but I find it helps eliminate any possible streaking or uneven application.

Wash the palm of your hands adn around your finger nails and inbetween fingers! Rub dry really well with a towel. Be sure not to drip any water on your skin as this will leave a streak.

Another thing I use in addition to the spray or instead of if I don't need an immediate tan is Banana Boat Every Day Gentle Glow. This is a lotion that you use every day and it will subtly and gradually tan your skin. You will notice it after a few days.

Mixing your self tanner with your lotion will make it not streak. It makes it go on smoother so you can rub it in evenly and it doesnt stick to dry skin patches

I have used various different brands of self tanner for many years and had good results with most all of them. I am currently using Banana Boat Summer Color. The KEY is to rub it in thoroughly!!!!! (And be sure to wash your hands well immediately after wards or the palms of your hand will "tan") The streaks occur when you put it on unevenly.

I find that the products that have an instant bronzer or tint to them to be easier to apply evenly than the colorless or white cream style. With the bronzer style, like Banana Boat Summer Color or Loreal Sublime Tinted Bronzer, you can instantly see how the color will look on you. The tint washes off, but the self tanner color will last for a few days. I find the sprays or mists to be difficult to control and I worry about them getting on other things.

I don't know that any of them turn you orange anymore, all though this may have more to do with your own skin tone than the self tanner. I remember 20 years ago, QT by Coppertone (the original self tanner, I believe) that it sometimes had an orangish look to it. But I don't think you will have that problem with the products currently on the market. Also, put on a light coat the first time and then add a coat each day or several times during the day, rather than trying to put it on too heavy.

One draw back to all of them is the effect is caused by a chemical reaction and often has a strong smell. For this reason, I put it on in the morning at least 30 minutes before I shower. Be sure that it is completely dry before you put on clothes or it may stain your clothing.

I use the self tanners all summer long on my legs, since they do not seem to tan well in the sun and my face, because I don't want to get too much sun on my face. Good luck!

I LOVE Clarins brand. They sell it at Macy's and I think other department stores. The Gel works the best and it looks so natural! I am the palest person in the world and I have had lots of experience with self tanners. Good luck!

Arbonne has a great self tanner that never looks orange and smells terrific - hubby likes it better than any others I have tried. I'm a cancer survivor who has had a ton of radiation, so 'faux' tan is my only option.

Tip for applying self-tanner (I've tried them all, and this helps them all!) Spray on the tan or put a bit in your hand. Get your body lotion and mix it with the tanner as you apply it. More even application, never any streaks. Wash your hands with a sea salt scrub afterwards to avoid orange palms. (Arbonne has a great scrub, too.)

Beyond that, the Arbonne brand avoids the nasty toxins that others use to give you a 'safer' glow. You would not believe what is in even organic brands. One company (along with 2 others I have seen at Whole Foods) uses human placenta in their products - disgusting and, yes, organic. :-(

If you order today, with 3 day delivery service, you can have it by Friday at your front door.
My website- www.lizsmith.myarbonne.com
For a wholesale membership (no minimums, no obligation to sell or bothersome emails from the company) you can get 20% off your orders for a year ($29).

Hope that helps - HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

This biggest problem with self tanners is no one tells you to exfoliate before you tan.

If you do that pretty much any of them work okay.

I have only used Mary Kay's self tanner and I liked the way it worked.

Good Luck and enjoy your trip.

God Bless,
T. B

We use the Jergens lotion with some self tan color already in it. The tone comes about more slowly but not orange or streaky.

Have fun!

I love Aveda's self tanner, i get it at Artistic Salon and Spa but i'd think you can buy it at any salon or store that sells aveda hair products. It doesn't have the strong odor most have and is the first one i've found that made me visibly tan after only 1-2 applications but does not turn me orange. Artisitic Salon has a 'buff and bronze' package where they exfoliate you and apply the self tanner for you that will help you get an even first application if you have the time and don't mind spending the money (i think it is $60). It is like getting a massage with a free tan!

I love the Jergen's Natural glow.. I have used it for a couple of years now and not had any problems with it..I even use the Wal-Mart brand it it's great. I would say get the one for medium skin tones even if you have fair skin.. You will notice a difference in a few days. Make sure you let it dry completely before you get dressed and you shouldn't have any trouble. ( I just wrap up in a towel while it's drying so I can still move around and get ready.)
