Why are the cups on the couch? Cups should be used while sitting at a table, not running around. This is a great time to teach table manners.

I just bought my 7 month old his forst sippy cup. It is a NUBY, it has a soft pliable top which he can teeth on as well. It has worked really good and I have not had any problems with leaks

The Nuby sippy cups at walmart or longs,riteaid I found are the best, they are sold at most stores in either 3-packs or single.

There is an INCREDIBLE resource called ZRecommends.com where they have evaluated baby and children's products in terms of safety, durability, environmental concerns, etc. MOMS, please do your research! BPA is still lurking in plastic products!
Klean Kanteen and Thermos Foogo are the best options, in my opinion.

I too was tired of the leaks and surprise wet spots on my floor when I walked around. I fell like I had tried just about every cup out there and all of them did not live up to their 'leak-proof' claim. Then I tried the Playtex Insulated cup. They have actually been leak proof so far and we've been using them for about 7 months now!! The have 2 different lid types. The first has a little spout (hard plastic) that my younger son has been using (he's 16 months old). My older son uses second kind that has no 'spout', but still has the leak proof feature. It looks kinda like a coffee cup you'd get for on the go. I like them a lot and they've worked great so far for us!

Go with the straw cups that the child has to bite down on the end of the straw while sucking. Playtex brand leaks.

I have a 20 month old grandson and tried many cups, the Avent brand has a spill stopper in it (has a hard spout that they suck on)and also a Walmart brand that has a straw in it, also has a spill stopper in it, this one is under $3. I like both and so does he.

Platex sippy cups work well for us! I have tried a zillion and those seem to last the longest and leak less.

My son, 16 months, and I use the Gerber ones that change color when they are cold. They work well. They only leak when my son pounds them upside down on the table. At which point, I think anything would leak! Make sure the valvue is pushed in tight. Good luck! I bought at least 6 different types before I found the one.

I really like the Playtex insulator cups. They are cute, work well and don't spill out. They are also BPA free.

my fav are nuby. the are BPA free and have two different spouts all interchangable. you can get them on diapers.com or at target and other places. they are almost more like a water bottle for toddlers. the only reason they would leak is if the lid is put on incorrectly...otherwise NO LEAKING AT ALL! they are great.

I was laughing when I read your email about stepping in puddles. I used Dr' Brown's sippy cups for my first son. I have always been a lover of Dr' Browns everything. I have wasted a lot of money on other brands for bottles and sippy cups. Also, when my son got older I starting using the playtex sippy with a built in straw and then the ones that have a lip on them like a cup so he can get use to using a real cup. Those are the best. I have found if they valve isn't in all the way on many of these sippy cups they will all leak or not screwed on tight enough. My son is 3 and has now figured out how to unscrew themn to get the last drop out.

we like the playtex. easy to clean and put together. Most importantly do not spill and our daughter shakes, drops or throws hers.

We use the Born Free ones which you can buy at Babies R Us!

I’ve gone through a few and was surprised to find that the cheapest one has worked the best. It’s Munchkin’s plain little sippy. It’s BPA free, has a silicone valve that doesn’t leak and costs 90 cents at target. You have to make sure the lid is on tight but once it’s on I haven’t had any problems with leaks.

We used Born Free, but they leaked and our daughter didn't drink as much. Corinne C (see below) suggested the safe sippy for us and it doesn't leak as much, our daughter drinks a LOT more water now, and they're durable (stainless steel) with a nice protective coating and good grip handles. Like Corinne said, you can get them at diapers.com for $16.95 each (cheaper than Amazon) and they're worth EVERY penny!

We use the BornFree Trainer cup & love it. Our son (15 months) throws his on the floor when he's done drinking. (Lovely, I know...) It does a great job of not letting any liquid out.

Try The Nuby ones they are a soft spout with a valve in them. I prefer the straw ones over the sippy type ones though.

I have found the kleen kanteen with the advent sippy cup top to be the best for spills so far, my daughter brings water to bed (in our bed) and I have had the best luck with this one not spilling easily.

Playtex work the best in my opinion. My daughter is 3 and we have been through so many brands.

I have a 15 month old and she has been using the Munchkin brand of sippy cups and the straw cups too. The lids are interchangeable which is helpful. They also have ribbed sides so they are easier to hold unlike most of the others. I have never had a problem with them leaking. I have also used Gerber which is fine and the Playtex straw cups which are also fine. I just prefer the Munchkin.

Another vote for the Playtex sippy cups. I've used them for both of my boys. They have smaller ones and bigger ones, insulated or not. If you get the valve in right and twist the lid tight you have no leaking at all and believe me, they are boys so they shake them, toss them, leave them in my car, etc. Also BPA free.

I agree with the previous posts: we've had the most success with Playtex sippy cups. The insulator/spill proof cups are good ones. We've had some for over 3 years with no spills. The one downside about them is that the valves can be hard to clean, but you can purchase replacement valves as well.

Try the straw cups rather than the sippy. I believe they are better for the child's teeth anyway, and I've found they are less likely to leak.

The only one I found that doesn't leak when turned upside down and shaken by a water-play loving toddler is the Kleen Kanteen with the Avent spout. My son's also able to use a sports cap top, but he can use that for sprinkling. But we only use the kanteen when we're on the road b/c my 15 month old is perfectly capable and more interested in drinking from a glass or cup. He has a little enamel-covered metal handled cup from a camping store (probably made for espresso-drinking campers) and he can easily give himself drinks from that. I just ration out the water until he starts trying to tip it out of the cup, and figure one day he'll grow out of that.

ive had great success with the ones with dora the explorer on them made by munchkin, but they may be a little big for your son...playtex also makes ones that are a little smaller...i never really liked the ones with the straw for younger kids, mine always would raise the cup like its a sippy cup and it would leak..my daughter was over 3 years old when she finally understood how to use the cup with a straw correctly!

We love Klean Kanteen sippy cup with the Advent spout. We've even replaced it when lost because nothing compares. We especially like it because you don't have to worry about any BPA's from plastic, as it's stainless steel. 12 oz size for little ones.

If you don't mind the plastic, Nubi makes a good one that has a retractable straw so you can put it in a bag or purse without spillage.
