Slip on Walking Shoes

Not really kid related, but I always have my hands full when heading out the door with all the kid stuff, so it is a choice of putting everything down to tie on tennis shoes, or slipping on sandals that aren't so good to walk long distances in...

I am looking for suggestions on slip on shoes that are good for walking, since we do a lot of walking downtown. I have gone through two pairs of the slip on Sketcher tennis shoes (the ones shaped like clogs with no back heel), but when I am walking a lot I feel like my toes are "scrunching up" to hold the shoes on which can't be good for my feet. Has anyone had a great pair of slip on walking shoes that are a great fit once they are on, but don't involve a lot of effort to get them on your feet?

What can I do next?

Try a nursing type clog, they are meant for people on their feet constantly, and most of them have a back strap, so you can slide them on to get out of the house and once you get where you are going, it will only take one second to flip the strap to hold the shoe on.
One of my co-workers finds them so comfortable, that she bought them in 3 colors and wears them all the time.

Clarks are the best I've found. Lots of slip-on styles and they are truly great for your feet!
If there's a Marshalls where you live, that's the least expensive place to get them that I've found.

Clarks are great but a little dressy (at least I find) for staying at home. I used to wear them when I worked at a school though and they offer great support. Some are better than others so if you go that route make sure you try them on.

You can find some Birkenstocks online or on Ebay that are made out of "Birko-flor" which is a faux leather material....I have a pair, and I swear, they feel just like real leather, you can hardly tell the difference. Of course, you can get the original leather ones too, they are great, but more expensive and a little easier to "ruin". Birks are great, I walk my son to and from school and most days I wear these and I love them. It feels like you are walking barefoot and there is great arch support. They do take a little getting used to (esp the backless ones) but once you break them in a little and get used to it they are FANTASTIC. Here is an example on ebay ...there are tons of different styles though

There are so many popular kinds of slip-on shoes right now.

Sketchers has a ton that are more like an open tennis shoe:

I have a pair from Clark's that I love as well:

There was a pair from LL Bean I wanted to get this summer:

Personally, I wear my running shoes almost all the time because I need orthotics to help with my arthritis in my feet (nice diagnosis in my late 20's). I just keep them loosely tied most of the time to be able to slip them on and off and then lace them tighter when running.

Good luck!
