Spinal Decompression Therapy

Hi J.! I'm 27 years old. I have degenerative disc disease, 1 herniated disc and 3 bulging discs. I did try the spinal decompression treatment, and it did help. However, it is VERY expensive and I had to stop the treatments because I lost my job. It did help at the time, but now I'm right back to where I was pain wise. I went to Dr. Scatena. I'm sorry to hear you've been having back problems due to a side effect of an epidural. I've never tried this myself but my Dad uses TrueBack http://trueback.com/.

My Dad hurt his back years ago while at work and had to retire early due to his limited abilities and pain. He has undergone 2 surgeries and neither helped to relieve any pain. He has been using trueback for the last 6 months(maybe longer) and he's feeling the best he has in years.

My mom had it done with partial success - the lack of total was due to arthritus - she was 80. My folks were pleased with the "experiment"...My chiropracter has one in his office because he had TOTAL success with it. He said it took a year - but he is walking proof that you do not have to have surgery for a bulging disc - his words. I am sure he would love to talk to you and answer your questions. A friendly, gentle, no high up attitude kind of guy.

The cost in his office is one treatment at a time - and I don't know. But my mom did what I had heard in the first place. $5000...and after 10 treatments, if there is no visible improvement - you get $2500 back. I think that is a common approach according to the comments I have heard.

My chiropractor, Dr. Baird, in Fuquay, does Spinal Decompression Therapy. You could give her a call and ask for prices. I have heard some of her patients highly recommend it from experience. She could also tell you how insurance handles it, etc.

I have had 8 months of spinal decompression, chiropractic treatments and exercise therapy. Yes it does help. I felt so much better. Unfortunately since I have moved down to Chattanooga, I can't find the same type of spinal decompression that I experienced up in Chicago. I have had back surgery so my insurance did cover most of it but I still had to put out some money. It does help if you find the right doctor who knows what he is doing.

You might want to look into osteopathic manipulation (some D.O.s do it) or CranioSacral Therapy - http://www.iahp.com/pages/search/index.php

Both very gentle techniques that correct a lot of problems. I have seen and heard of amazing success stories.

Don't know much about spinal decompression but have seen adverstment in the papers and they are expensive and experimental but maybe water areobics would help. Classes in Wilmore for $2.

Maybe the first step is finding a surgeon that has done a few of these procedures and from his office personnel they should be able to tell you the cost and get that in writing and dont be ashamed to ask for some assistance from the admission dept. I hear there is monies for people that have to have procedures that aren't covered with insurance. Good Luck.

I am currently seeing a Chiropractor for hip and back pain not using decompression therapy but some people I know are. I am thinking they said the treatment was 150 a pop! But, that it worked wonderfully. Good luck!

I had the Spinal Decompression in April 2008. For me it was a lifesaver! I had a pinched nerve and three bulging disc w/ degenerative disc disease. I am 57 years old. I had suffered for almost 2 years. I had surgical decompression in July 2007. This worked for for about a month. My pain was so bad I could not ride in car for very far, turn over in bed, or even sit on my sofa.

I saw the ad on T.V. for the DR9000 Spinal Decompression Treatment. I called for a FREE consultation, got all the pros and cons on the treatment. It is rather expensive. My insurance paid some since he is a chiropractor. But my cost was $4500.00. But let me tell you, it was the best money I have ever spent. It can take up to 3-6 sessions to feel any change, but then every session is like a new lease on life. I feel like a 30-40yr old women again. I am traveling and doing things 3 years ago i thought I'd never be able to do again.
