After years of abusing my body by eating bad and not exercising and having three children (two are twins) I have come to a point where my shell us holding my spirit back. I have begun to correct the health of my body by eating a low calorie, low fat diet and just plain hard work in the gym. As I begin to loose weight I am scared that this lump of skin I have stretched out will remain. Is there any way to help that skin regain its normal appearance? I'm not unrealistic, in the end I just want a bady that reflects the hard work I've done!

What can I do next?

Hi H.,

Check out the Teresa Tapp site t-tapp.com site. I have personally done some of the skin tighenting system but not all of it. I recently lost 30 lbs. and the skin brushing does help with the stomach area. You have to be consistent though. A personal trainer I know does the whole program and swears by it. She is also a T-Tapp instructor. I hope it helps.

After two kids my stomach never went back. I had ab muscles since I worked out after my kids but after two years and the belly flab was still there I went to Dr.'s. You could feel solid muscle under the skin but I was told by 2 plastic surgeons and 2 family practice Dr's that surgery would be the only way.

I had half of a tummy tuck in Dec and LOVE IT !!!!! I saw Dr. Nahai, the son, at Paces Plastic Surgery and he was AWESOME! I am still recovering but am doing very well. I only needed half of a tummy tuck because I had done so much for my ab muscles they didn't need to be fixed from pregnancy. Only removal of skin.

I am still amazed that I had plastic surgery. I always thought it was a selfish thing. But I realize now how great I feel having 3 inches of skin off my waist.

Good Luck and I hope this helped!

H.,

Congratulations on losing weight and putting yourself first!! It's awesome that you were able to make such a drastic life change that so many can't seem to conquer. Honestly, you probably will have extra skin after losing the weight. If you had been overweight for years, your skin has probably lost the elasticity it needs to shrink back down. The only solution may be plastic surgery. If you only get a tummy tuck, it won't cost all that much. Good luck with your continued weight loss!

Hi H.,

Congratulations on your determination! If you are working out at the same speed you are losing weight, the skin should come back as well if you are really healthy. Exercise and low calorie, low fat is an answer for weight loss but there are other parts of the formula as well. Research the glycemic index which allows for healthy fats and also lets you eat a lot more food. The body needs fuel so eating is a good thing.

My husband began an absorbable multivitamin/mineral complex three years ago and lost over 110 pounds and has kept it off and he has now begun on the low glycemic diet and weight is falling off even more. He was not looking to lose more weight, just get healthier. That was actually our intention when he started the vitamin. He says he feels better than he ever has and he is a former athlete and has always paid attention to his health even though he got terribly large.

Nutrition will keep the skin pliable and it will respond. I take a patented grape skin/grape seed extract blend that restores the elasticity to my skin as well as my vascular system. (Two birds with one stone.) I'll be glad to tell you specifics of what he did, along with several other friends I have suggested this vitamin to, and you can weigh it for what it's worth...

God bless and keep your spirits up!

M.

H.- It is hard to give you a fixed answer because it depends on several factors. Things like, how old you are,how much weight you gained and over what period of time. Unless you were morbidly obese there is is a good chance that your skin will tighten up. I must warn you that there will a period where your skin will hang a little bit but that is only temporary as long as you keep up your workouts. This will be very frustrating but it will not remain. Keep it up and I applaud your working toward better health!

As a teenager, I weighed 200 lbs. I lost 60 lbs before having my first son. I had my other son 14 months later. Because of the stress of my life and having the boys, I was down to 115lbs. 7 years later, I weigh 105, but I still have the skin. Once in a great while, it bothers me. I'll look in the mirror and see the skin on my upper arms, my thighs and especially my stomach. But then I look at the overall picture. I'm not 200lbs anymore. I'm healthy, I feel great and I feel like a better person. Don't let a little bit of skin get to you. Imagine it as a "battle scar." It'll help remind you of where you were and where you are now. For me, I feel proud when I see the skin. But, if it bothers you that much, there may be limited options. Once the skin gets stretched so much, it loses its elasticity. It may not go back where it needs to be. From the research I've done, the only permanant solution is plastic surgery. There may be lotions and skin treatments, but I'm not sure how well they work. Congrats on the hard work your doing. I hope you are happy with the new you.
