On top of a 3 week old broken clavicle my poor baby now has a sty in her eye! As far as I know there is nothing I can do for her other then putting a warm compress on her eye every night and making sure that she washes her hands OFTEN and tries not to rub or scratch her eye. Any other suggestions? She is 8 years old and is beside herself that she has yet another medical situation that she has to deal with right before the beginning of summer vacation! My next request will be about boosting her self confidence (cuz I can only do one a day! LOL)Poor little girl has a broken bone, a sty in her eye and has to deal with a bully all 6 days before summer vacation! What a way to start the summer! Haha! :0)

Try washing the eye with diluted baby shampoo twice daily (doctor advise from past experience); and use clean warm compresses. She may need a prescriptive antibiotic eye ointment or drops to clear up the infected eyelash follicle, perhaps a visit to the pediatric opthomologist is due. Good luck!

Baby shampoo!! I wore contacts for years and was plagued with chronic eye infections and problems. If you'll just use no more tears baby shampoo and actually wash the eye it will go away in 1 or 2 days. It is amazing! If you'll continue to have her wash her face (eyes open or closed) it will help to prevent them in the future.

Hi Victiria, place a warm tea bag on her eye, it works, some how the herb in the tea brings out the puss or what ever is in there, it has worked for me every time I have had a sty, just make sure it is warn not hot. J.

There's some Stye ointment you can get at the drugstore, but honestly - I don't think it helps much.
Explain to her that the best way to get rid of it is to leave it alone... and let her have the warm compress as often as she likes.
I once popped a stye (it was really REALLY getting on my nerves) - hurt like crazy, I still have the scar from it (inside my eye, no less, pretty scary) AND it didn't really bring me relief either. :(
Baby her a little... poor kid!

It's an old fashioned method..but everytime I start to get a stye, I always remember as far back as I can that my mom or grandma, would take a tea bag and soak it in warm water for a couple minutes just as though you were making a cup of tea. Squeezed it a little and lay it over the eye that was hurting..If you catch it at it's start it will stop it right in it's tracks..but if it gets bad it will help soothe it and heal it. Though if it gets bd enough you may need to get the Stye gel found in the pharmacy. I'm not sure if it's for kids or not..or maybe take her to the doc and see what they say. The Tea bag has always worked for me. Good luck to your little precious.

HI there,
We got rid of our daughters sty with doing what your are doing but we did it 3-4 times a day. We also were told to massege the sty so it would form a head and pop.
Poor baby having a broken arm. Get her some good sharpies and let her drcorate!! LOL
Good luck with that bully, my daughters always took treats to the end of school. have her take some and give the bully some and tell her to have a good summer. maybe for next year it will change the bullys attitude.
Kill'em with kindness
Take care

For the stye...I have heard (and it worked once for me) that a freshly hard-boiled egg makes a great warm compress (just make sure it's not too hot of course) and supposedly there is an enzyme in the egg shell that helps with getting rid of the stye fast. Also for a fabulous warm compress that actually stays warm is a microwaved potato. I went to an opthamologist for a stye once and he also suggested washing the eye with johnson's baby shampoo along the inner eye lids using a q-tip, then rinsing...it doesn'y hurt and keeps the eye clean! Poor Girl...other kids can be so mean! This too shall pass.

I suffered with stys all through high school and they began to recur again a couple of years ago.
Hot compresses helped to bring them to a head (massaging them for me actually made them worse) but I also used cold teabags. I'd brew them and then put them in the refrigerator to cool. I don't know how much they sped up the process but they definitely made my eye feel better.
I made the mistake of popping one (please don't do this no matter how tempted you are) and a permanent bump resulted until I got antibiotic cream from the doctor.
In all fairness though, once I used the cream, they haven't been back at all.

A warm Tea bag will help draw out the plug quickly and washing the lids with johnson and johnson baby soap will prevent the infection from spreading. It's called Blepheritis when it effects all the lash area of an eye and itches like crazy !

As for self conidence, what is the root cause ? I was a little shy and I benefited from a children's theater group . The kids were nice, taught me to speak in front of an audiance , and it was just fun. You could look for one in your area. Usually they are forming for summer at this time, and she can do it with a broken clavicle.
