Suggestions for Keeping Crib Toys When Going to Big Girl Bed

Okay, here it is 4:30 in the morning, and I'm online worrying about this. My daughter is about ready to transition to the "big girl bed", but she is very attached to her Fisher Price crib aquarium. She uses it several times a night to listen to the music, and it does calm her to sleep. In fact, she's on her second one!

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could keep it once she does go to a big girl bed? We aren't using a toddler bed, as she's so tall now, it would last a month.

Thanks!

I had the same problem with my little girl who is now almost 5 years old. She loved her aquarium too and way to tall for a toddler bed! So when when put her in a big bed we put her in a twin on the floor with one side up against the wall first for her to get used to it and just put the aquarium in bed with her while she fell asleep. Hope this helps!

I personally didn't like putting a toy in bed with my 7 yr old when he transitioned to a big boy bed. I was afraid with it being loose, he would roll over on it and hurt himself. I don't remember the name of the toy, but it was from Fisher Price and had shapes on it. When he pressed them they would light up and play a song. When he moved I found a strudy hook and screwed it into a stud in the wall (that way he couldn't pull it out) and hung the toy on it. His bed was pushed up against the wall. Hope that helps.

My daughter had the same aquarium that she was used to. We transitioned her to "Baby Tad". Its a leapfrog toy that sings songs and teaches her. One hand will sing up to 6 minutes of night time songs and starts off by saying "6 minutes till night-night" and the other had sings other songs. The belly has shapes and stuff like that. She loves her tad now

When my son visits Grandma overnight, he sleeps in a "big boy bed" pushed against a wall. We just set the aquarium up by his pillow, not attached to anything, and it works fine.

We hung my sons crib CD player on his bed rail...keeps him safe and serves as a place to hang the all important crib CD player! We also put our son into a queen size bed out of the crib. Good luck!

My 3 year old son still sleeps with his aquarium in his bed. I just lean it against the headboard, of if there were no headboard, against the wall by his pillow so he can reach it.Believe me he still uses it.

My dd still has a 'nighty night light' from her crib, and she's been in her 'big girl' bed since January. I simply put the unit on her bedside table. She doesn't use it as much anymore, but every once in awhile turns it on before drifting off. Is there a way you could attach your aquarium thingy to the bed's headboard? Or simply prop it on a bedside table like we do? It would probably help her feel more comfortable in the new sleeping situation to have a favourite comfort object there. Best of luck!

We were able to rig it to the headboard on my son's bed...maybe with tiewraps...it's been a few years so I can't remember exactly how we did it....but I think that is right.
