Hi, I'm hoping this isn't a stupid question but here it is. My son is 4 months old and due to work, stress and lack of sleep, my milk production has slowed down to pretty much a halt, I've done whatever I could to fix it but in the mean time my son does need to eat, so I've been giving him formula. My question is, he's been on Enfamil Lipil with Iron but since I can't give him breastmilk, I want to go organic, will switching brands cause digestion issues? and What organic brands or formula would any of you recommend?
I don't know if any formula is organic. I am not sure. With some brands yes, it will cause digestion issues. Is there a reason that you want to get off of Enfamil.
Not a stupid question at all. Most children are ok changing brands, just typically changing with each can because then it could be hard to determine if something is wrong.
Since the government requires all formulas to pass strict testing, there is no need to get a "name brand". So if you try a Target or Walmart organic formula and it seems to be ok, then you can save $5 - 10 a can.
If your child is one who does have some type of sensitivity, you'll probably notice it right away.
Hi S.- I used Parent's Choice organic (wal-mart brand) to supplement my bm with and my son had no problems. Similac also has an organic, but it's $28 or more a can; the parent's choice is $15 and it is nutritionally the same as Enfamil. Hope that helps- E.
Earth's Best seems to nutritionally be the best choice. But it is costly and does not contain DHA. You will find sugar as one of the first ingredients in the Similac Organic, and you won't with Earth's Best, plus they are very similar to Enfamil in ingredients. If you do decide to go that route, you may want to find an infant DHA supplement that you could add to the bottles.
With our first child we used Parent's Choice Organic, but it caused him a lot of constipation. Every child is different and may react differently to the formulas.
