Tell Me What You Use for Internet Service Without a Land Line

I am looking for other options for our internet service. Even at the bottom tier it is about $60/mo pre-tax. It is cable internet. That just seems too high for what we are getting. We do not have a land line phone so that limits our options a bit. So if you could tell me what you use and if you like it, I'd appreciate it.

Comcast also has a internet package available for $24.99 but they don't advertise it. I was only told about it when I called to cancel my interner after a promotional price had ended.

As others have stated, AT & T saved me a whole lot and the service is great. I have the u200 package for my TV and the mid speed of DSL and just got my bill. It was $110. And I have had no problems.

Cable internet is your best bet, period. Even though it is a bit more expensive.....DSL is great of you are within the first 500-600 feet of the hub..after that you may as well have dial up. Satelitte internet is another option, but poor during severe weather such as severe thunderstorms and snow storms. We have been paying $60 a month for 10 years for cable internet and I personally will NOT give up the speed. ps. for phone service we went to a device called magicjack, find it at www.magicjack.com cost $60 for 2 years and all our calls local, long distance & 411 are free!!! Saved us over $1000 for the 2 years....love it!

We just got rid of our land line and use att with a dry loop for internet services. The cost is $35/mo. Check them out and see if you like it. Take care.

We have AT&T U-verse and for the internet we pay $35 a month pre-tax. We do not have a land line. We do however have our cable through AT&T. All together, with tax, we pay $101 a month.

We have Comcast at home and it is one of the worst services out there. Avoid it if at all possible.

Hi-

We just cancelled our land line and have a dry loop with att that is $20.00/month... We also bought the magicjack for our computer so we can have a phone other than using cells all the time. The unit costs $40.00 includes your first year of phone service and then it is $20.00 a year.

Hope that helps

ATT just started offering dsl internet without having to get a land line. Ours is about $35 per month (and I think that's the middle choice for internet speed). We have been with ATT for almost 4 years and are happy with them.

I have a deal with Comcast that's $71 for Internet and cable with taxes and stuff so it's probably $60 or $66.

Maybe try AT&T Wireless service with their USB. If you use their cellphones, it's only $10 more a month I think.

Or look into the Internet service your wireless provider offers.

Trisha:

I also have Comcast and I was paying around what you are paying. Then, I saw a deal for new customers on tv. So, I called and asked what deals they currently have and if they could sign me up for one of them. Now, my bill is $35 a month. Give them a call it can't hurt.

I hope this helps.

We don't have a land line phone either so we got the wireless verizon plug in card..It sucks. We've had it over a year. It doesn't work in our basement so we have to have our computer in our kitchen. It's so slow and disconnects alot. We will be looking into AT&T DSL soon. We can't take it anymore.

We have Comcast and love it. Just like the commercial says it's really fast. If you sign on with their triple play (cable, internet, and phone) it's a nice package. I know AT&T has something similar, but they are not offered in all areas so that's a limitation (we can't get it where we live). You can usually bargain with the service to cut your rate after the introductory period, too, so don't let that scare you.

You can always get a cheaper deal by bundling your cell phone, internet and cable/satellite service together. At&T has some very good deals, all 3 for less than $100.
Comcast also offers so bundle deals also, check them out on-line.
Remember not all services are available in all towns and if you live out in the country you even have less available. Just make a few calls to At&T and Comcast, you should get some good deals.

Good Luck,
S.

We just went to verizon DSl with dry loop in March. The service is great for us, but it's the billing that's a headache. Of course, you have to have verizon wireless to have the dry loop, but it is a lot cheaper than having to have the land line. We pay $30 per month.

We "dry looped" our internet service through AT&T, using it for business (about $40/month), but our cell phones are through T-Mobile, so we have their home phone sevice using their modem, the service costs us $10/month.
Lots of "deals" out there and it can be confusing... good luck!
