Hi,
I have a friend who is very sad. She thinks she is a failure because she doesn't have any kids or a husband yet and she's 33 yrs. old. It's getting really bad where I know she needs a therapist to talk to and some depression drugs. Does anyone have any good kind therapists who are great listeners and advice givers. She will feel really weird about going to one and needs someone really really caring and helpful not someone who just writes up prescriptions. thank you.

What can I do next?

Julee Barkauskas is a real nice woman that I have seen in the past. She has an office in Aurora & Yorkville. Has she tried any singles groups or match.com, church groups, etc. I hope she seeks help soon. You are a good friend for trying to help her, stay by herside even if it seems as if she is ok.

Dr Fatima and Dr Syed Ali are psychiatrists just north of Naperville in the Danada area.
1750 South Naperville Road

Practice: ###-###-####

The psychiatrist provides prescription for medicine and monitoring about the dosage and patient's response to the medicine and acts in tandem with the person giving talk therapy. Family doctor can also write prescriptions for medicine for depression but the psychiatrist has the primary experience giving this support.

For talk therapy, Lisa Storto-Featherstone has offices as part of Spalding Clinical Services - in both Naperville and Yorkville. Details at:

Many people do have depression. Your friend is lucky that you care about her and are trying to encourage her to get help!

BTW Linden Oaks in Naperville can give free evaluations and referrals to additional resources.

I have been seeing Dr. Pamela Rebeck in Naperville since Febuary this year. She is a psychologist and I have been having her help me through my depression, anger issues, and anxiety. I didn't want to rely on drugs so that is why I chose a psychologist rather than a psychiatrist. She has helped me greatly and even my husband has started to see her at his own appointments and that has helped he and I communicate better than we ever have. She is located right past Meson Sabika in Naperville and she does take insurance. Contact at ###-###-#### and address is 475 River Bend, Suite 600 Naperville, IL 60540. Good luck with your friend, but also know that she has to be the one to make the commitment towards a healthy mental state, but you are definitely a great friend by passing any of the recommendations along to her.

Good therapist recommendations from others. I would also add to help her find a relationship with God. Only HE can truly get her in a better state of mind. I almost fell into a depression when I lost my pregnancy at 8 months. I seeked God's help with prayer and I knew He was with me from before it happened. This happened a couple of years ago in March and by May, I was totally experiencing God's presence around and he lifted me up from my sadness. It's something supernatural that is not easily explained, but PRAYER WORKS!
