Quick question, I am thinking of taking kids to an all inclusive resort in Mexico. I'm told taking a four year old to Mexico might not be a safe bet. We would not be leaving the resort.
Anyone been there w/young children.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ok, thanks for feedback. I would be going w/o my man and he was concerned about me & kids going w/o him being there. He made comment about who takes a four yr old to Mexico?. But I was already pretty certain being on a resort would be safe.

I have traveled the US and the world, but have never had a desire to go to Mexico...so, I would say no. And you say 'not leaving the resort'...is that for safety? If so, I would go to a beautiful place where you can explore and be safe:)

I would not, but mostly because I get sick every time I go - I try to be careful and only drink bottled water, but I still end up with stomach/intestinal issues. With a little kid, that could ruin the vacation.

My neighbors just did that with 3 kids at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun - the youngest was 4.5. They had a great time. They also did some traveling around to tourist attractions. Exactly what are you worried about? Safety? Food? Water? The travel time? If you're not going off into the interior and away from civilization, things should be fine.

I went to a resort in Mexico with my then 3 year old and a 7 year old. We had a great time. We even left the resort and explored other beaches and the town square of Mazatlan. What concerns do you have?

Why wouldn't it be safe? Let me ask you this... Would you take yourself there? If so, then, yes. We went to Cancun and it was TOTALLY safe. Anytime you travel you have to be aware of your surroundings, etc. But, I say go for it!

My husband and I just got back from Cabo San Lucas, while we didn't take the kids, it was for our anniversary, we have already booked our family vacation for next summer back in Cabo.

I don't see why it wouldn't be safe. There were tons of families there with their children and they seemed to be doing great. If you are going to a tourist spot I don't any reason why it wouldn't be a safe bet. I can't speak for all of Mexico but in Cabo and Cancun everything is tailored to tourists. Like I said, we went and had such a good time we are doing it all over again and taking the kids along this time.

I went to Mexico yrs ago...Cancun. I picked up an allergic reaction there. My eyes swelled up...as well as my ears and cheeks. It was scary. Luckily, I spoke a tad of Mexican when I went to the dr there.

I went to the Mexican dr.

Then, I went to my long time dermatologist.

They both said I will have this "virus" in my system. And I still do. I never told the dr here what the Mexican dr said....but, they both diagnosed me with the same thing.

I will never go to Mexico again. I still have skin issues from then-to this day. It's horrible ! Thank heavens I did not have to go to the hospital there.

Cancun is my 4 and 7 year olds favorite place. We took them when they were 3 and 6. We did go into the town several times, but they would have been happy staying at the hotel the whole time. They still talk about Cancun and Mexico a lot!

I say go.

I wouldn't for several reasons. I watch the news and safety is a big concern. Follow the Marine held in Mexico story...no way are they getting any money from me.

Disease is coming into our country from Mexico, and other places of course, but I don't want to come home sick. I don't want to go anywhere that I can only drink bottled water.

There are many gorgeous places in America that can offer all inclusive benefits as well, maybe try those. Or look at a cruise - best trip we ever took!! Just avoid Western Caribbean.
